The EMC RecoverPoint replication solution provides continuous data protection for mission
critical applications with bidirectional synchronous and asynchronous replications
between two separate geographical data center locations. The point-in-time recovery and
optimization of RPO and RTO on a per application basis ensures instant recovery and
consistency at the application level between multiple arrays and multiple applications.
Integrated with VMware Site Recovery Manager (SRM), RecoverPoint protects the virtualized
environment and enables recovery to any point-in-time. RecoverPoint also supports multisite configurations for centralized or distributed Disaster Recovery (DR) operations.

SOLUTION OVERVIEW
IT support services need to protect the entire Oracle infrastructure rather than just the
database. EMC RecoverPoint enables system administrators to replicate all application
components, not just the database files, overcoming limitations of Oracle Data Guard and
providing the ability to recover to any-point-in-time for faster recoveries with minimal, if
any, data loss. EMC RecoverPoint is a technology that resides in the network allowing all
writes to be tracked in a Recovery Journal before they are written to disk. Oracle data is
then compressed and de-duplicated before sending over the WAN to a remote site,
reducing the network bandwidth requirement up to 90%. Should a recovery be necessary,
the Recovery Journal is used to roll back the complete Oracle software stack to any point in
time.
Integration with VMware Site Recovery Manager
VMware Site Recovery Manger integrates with EMC RecoverPoint to orchestrate recovery of
physical or virtualized Oracle servers during recovery. Under the normal IT operation
leveraging VMware virtual machines, DBAs can quickly and transparently failover
production to the replicated set of virtual servers and perform recovery in a secure,
separate environment to see what recovery would look like as part of the DR operation test.

The RecoverPoint solution is also integrated with other EMC offerings, including EMC
