It’s hard to believe that summer is almost over and the new semester is beginning. Are you
ready for your new classes?
Reminders:
!) Drop/Add Period is Monday, August 31-Friday, September 4. You can make changes to
your class schedule. A PIN is not needed.
2) Parking permits will need to be purchased in order to park on campus.

3) Be sure to check your schedule to see if there are any instructor or room updates.
4) Don’t forget to stop by the Lounge for our first free luncheon of the semester on
Wednesday, September 9 from 12-1:30.
5) If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out and ask. There are many
resources on campus for you, including the Advisement and Transition office.
Though time may seem limited, please feel free to take advantage of the campus offerings we
have for non-traditional students. You can enjoy the "get-away" space in the Non-Traditional
Student Lounge located in Cornish Hall, Room 1221, or join us at events planned just for you by
my office and by the Non-Traditional Students' Organization (NTSO). Look for announcements
in future editions of this newsletter in your email.
I wish you much success and enjoyment this fall semester at SUNY Cortland.
Red Dragon Pride Day
Final Exams
Friday, September 4 is our annual Red Dragon Pride
Day activity on campus. Show your Cortland price
and get your RED on! All students, faculty and
staff are invited for a CAMPUS photo at 1:40 p.m.
on the steps of Corey Union. Free ice cream and
t-shirts to follow.

“Welcome Back” Lunch on September 9
Join us in the Non-Traditional Student Lounge, Cornish Hall, Room 1221, for a
FREE lunch on Wednesday, September 9, from 12 - 1:30 p.m. Make your own
sandwiches on a Kaiser roll or wheat and sourdough breads. You will have a
choice roast turkey, sliced ham, tuna or chicken salad. You may add American
or Swiss cheese, lettuce, and tomatoes. Pickles, dill potato salad, mixed green
salad, chips, brownies, cookies and soft drinks will also be available.
Hosted by Advisement and Transition with assistance from an ASC grant.
Come enjoy some good food and company. Stop by when you can and leave
when you must. See you there!

Support Services
Are you nervous about your classes this semester? Is there a class you need to take but feel it's
been too long since you took it in high school or another school before you arrived at SUNY
Cortland? The Academic Support and Achievement Program (ASAP) office is here to help you!
Located in Van Hoesen Hall, Room B-205, the office offers professional, peer and online tutoring to
help you get through those tough courses. You are eligible for one free hour a week per class.
Contact their office as soon as you can in the beginning of the semester. The ASAP office also
provides sessions on time management, learning styles and study skills. For more information:

Organization? Do you want to help support the NTSO? Consider becoming
the secretary for NTSO. The secretary is responsible to taking minutes at the
meeting and checking our mailbox in Corey Union. Please email [email protected] if you are
interested.
For your information: The Non-Traditional Student Organization (NTSO) is a student governmentfunded group just for adult students at SUNY Cortland. NTSO's goal is to meet the unique needs of
students over 24 and those, regardless of age, with dependent children. Student volunteers lead the
organization with help from other students and meet about once a month.
