Dear Ridgeview Middle School Families,
Dear Ridgeview Middle School Families,
I hope you are enjoying the last few days of summer and getting ready to play an active role in
our school’s community. As a PTSA, we work collaboratively to support the school through
many events and volunteer opportunities, which involves working closely with our principal, Dr.
McKnight, and all of the wonderful Ridgeview administrators and school staff, to make this a
fabulous year for our children.
Because our PTSA takes seriously our mission to bring our families and communities together to
advocate for Ridgeview students, we will continue to sponsor many wonderful programs and
activities. In particular, we are excited to continue many of the activities that were successful
last year including the Tailgate Party, Minute-to-Win-It, and school dances. We also plan to
introduce a fundraising program (or two) to help support the needs of our teachers and
students.
In addition to fundraising, the Ridgeview PTSA also works to provide information and to open
avenues of communication among Ridgeview parents, the school administration and the larger
community. There are many ways for you to find out what’s happening at Ridgeview:
• Join the RMS PTSA Google Group by sending an email to me at
[email protected] from the email you’d like to be added to the list; or you can
search the Google Group page for RMS PTSA and request to join. This listserv will
provide a ton of useful information about events and keep you up-to-date with your
child’s activities.
• Like our Facebook page: Ridgeview Middle School PTSA
• Read the PTSA newsletter, The Key, which is distributed electronically throughout the
year.
• Visit the website www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/schools/ridgeviewms under the
PTSA Quick Links for current news, information, and forms.
I encourage you each to find your own niche at Ridgeview, to join the PTSA, and to share some
of your valuable time, treasure, and talents. There are still some Committee Chair positions
available! With your involvement, our school will be a better place. Our PTSA membership is
open to anyone who supports our PTSA goals including parents, teachers, students,
grandparents, and business owners. We need time, funds, and good will from people like you to
keep it happening. There is so much for us to do and we look forward to doing it together.
Our first PTSA meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 14 at 7:00pm in the Media Center.
Please plan on joining us! Subsequent PTSA meetings are planned for the second Tuesday of the
month beginning in December. Every meeting gives you a chance to ask questions, make
suggestions, meet and talk with other parents and hear important information about what is
happening at Ridgeview and in our community.
We look forward to a wonderful school year. If you have any questions, or want to get involved,
please contact us. The PTSA needs you–we always welcome new faces and new ideas!
All the best,
Megan Ellis
