THE DISTINCTIVENESS OF COOPERATION
Cooperative enterprise, unlike corporations and other type of enterprise, have
the principle of “self”: each member, in fact, takes the direct management of
activities in which he is involved.
In cooperatives the nominal value of each share can’t be less than 25 € or
more than 500 €.
Where the law provides otherwise, no shareholder in the cooperative societies
can have a share of more than 100.000 €, or as many shares whose nominal
value exceeds that amount.
With regard to the reserves one must distinguish between legal reserves,
which are never divided, and other reserves, wheather provided by statute,
and therefore obligatory, or the result of a choice made by directors and
shareholders (“voluntary reserves”).
In any case the reserves of any kind, in mutual cooperatives, are
always “indivisible” among the cooperative members.
The “property” is an exclusive availability of the cooperative and may not be
distributed to shareholders even in the event of dissolution
(transgenerationalbility of the cooperative)

COOPERATIVE PRINCIPLES

“A cooperative is a group of people pursuing common goals,
economic,
social
and
educational
services
through
entrepreneurship” (Charles Gide, 1847-1932, french cooperator).
•
The cooperative is asked to be effective not only as a company,
but also as a small community.
•
The cooperative enhance the ability of each member, satisfying
the needs for economic, human and cultural growth
The desire to set up a cooperative is given by the identification of a common need
and by the determination to satisfy it by self-management and best use of economic
and personal resources of members.
The diversity of purpose distinguishes cooperatives among them, puts them in fields
or areas of activity, according to its purpose and the economic sector that undertake.

Confcooperative Emilia Romagna, created in 1979 to meet the training
needs of the regional cooperative system. IRECOOP offers a wide
range of training programs designed to meet the requests of
members, managers and employees of cooperatives regionally.
