Vado Ligure, 3rd May 2016 Customer Advisory Implemetation of VGM rules in Reefer Terminal Vado Ligure from 1st July Dear Customer, At Reefer Terminal we know that safety is crucial in our industry and we support initiatives that drive safety inland and at sea. As you know, from July 1st, global containerized maritime commerce will need to comply with new IMO international regulations that require every packed container to have a verified container weight as a condition for vessel loading. Main Principles The purpose of the SOLAS amendments is to obtain an accurate gross weight of packed containers that are moved through the supply chain prior to loading aboard the ship. The responsibility for obtaining and documenting the verified gross weight of a packed container lies with the shipper. Verified container weights are to be used by the terminal operator and the vessel operator in ship stowage planning. Availability to both the Terminal representative and to the Master or his representative of the verified gross mass (VGM) of a packed container sufficiently in advance to be used in the ship stowage plan is a prerequisite for the container to be loaded onto a ship to which the SOLAS regulations apply To assist our Customers in preparing and meeting the new VGM rules, we would like to share with you Reefer Terminal policy on the matter. As of the 25th of June, all standard full containers arriving at Reefer Terminal gate without prior information about VGM will not be allowed in the Terminal Reefer Terminal S.p.A. To enjoy this service, the Shipper has to request the service before arrival of full container at the gate VGM weighing service tariffs and cut off times shall apply.
