Il Consorzio Sestriere e le Montagne Olimpiche
è nato a fine 2009 con l’obiettivo di unire le
forze per presentare sul mercato pacchetti di
promozione turistica concorrenziali al passo
con un mercato sempre più attento ed esigente.
Ne fanno parte in qualità di soci fondatori i comuni di Cesana Torinese, Sauze di Cesana, Pragelato e Sestriere e, a livello privati, la Sestrieres
Spa (impianti e piste da sci della Vialattea), l’Associazione Albergatori di Sestriere, l ’Ascom,
l’Associazione Mondo Artigiani e Noleggi, l’Associazione Imprenditori di Sestriere, l’Associazione Scuole di Sci e Sci Club di Sestriere e il
Consorzio Grangesises. Obiettivo? Farvi scoprire

The Consortium Sestriere and the Olympic Mountains was born in late 2009 with the aim to join
forces to present packages on the market of tourism promotion competitive pace with an ever
more demanding. This includes acting as the
joint founders of Cesana Torinese, Sauze di Cesana, Pragelato and Sestriere, in private, Sestrieres Spa (facilities and ski slopes of the Milky
Way), the Hotel Association of Sestriere, the
'Ascom The World Association of Craftsmen and
Rentals, the Association of Entrepreneurs of Sestriere, the Association of Ski Schools and Ski
Club Sestriere and Consortium Grangesises.

Il comprensorio
Il Consorzio Sestriere e le Montagne Olimpiche è formato da Pragelato, Sauze di Cesana, Grangesises, Cesana-Sansicario e Sestriere.
Rappresenta in Piemonte il principale polo turistico montano capace di offrire ben 9.000 posti
letto alberghieri. Dopo la fantastica esperienza dei Giochi Olimpici e delle Paralimpiadi Invernali di Torino 2006, le stazioni
che fanno parte del comprensorio sciistico della Vialattea (400
km di piste) si sono consorziate
per presentare un’offerta turistica
di primo piano capace di accontentare le esigenze di una variegata clientela nazionale ed internazionale.
Le nostre splendide montagne si trovano a poco più
di un’ora d’auto da Torino. In auto con l’Autostrada
A32 (direzione Monginevro) si arriva a Oulx proseguendo poi verso Monginevro, lungo la strada statale
23, si arriva a Cesana, Sauze di Cesana, Grangesises,
Sestriere e Pragelato, distanti tra di loro da pochi minuti di viaggio. In treno, da Torino si scende ad Oulx
per proseguire fino a destinazione con il servizio bus
pubblico oppure con comode navette. La vicinanza
con l’ aeroporto di Torino Caselle (a poco più di
un’ora d’auto dalle nostre montagne) e quelli di
Cuneo Levaldigi, Milano Malpensa, Bergamo Orio al
Serio, apre ad una rete di collegamenti diretti ed indiretti con altri scali nazionali ed europei.
THE MOUNTAINS AN HOUR AWAY FROM TURIN
Our gorgeous mountains are a little more than a hour
drive from Turin. By car, you will be travelling on the
A32 highway (direction Montgenèvre) to Oulx and then
driving further on the national road no. 23 towards
Montgenèvre to reach the resorts of Cesana, Sauze di
Cesana, Grangesises, Sestriere and Pragelato, that are
just a few minutes away from each other. By train, you
will be travelling from Turin to Oulx and then reach
your final destination by public bus or comfortable
shuttle service. Thanks to the proximity to the airports
of Caselle, Turin, (a little more than one hour drive
from our mountains), Levaldigi, Cuneo, Malpensa,
Milan, and Orio al Serio, Bergamo, you will have at
your disposal a network of direct and indirect connections with other national as well as European airports.

Le gare olimpiche ospitate nel 2006, oltre
alle innumerevoli prove di Coppa del
Mondo, testimoniano la vocazione sciistica
del territorio con piste per tutte le tipologie di sciatori. Il comprensorio della Vialattea è tra i più vasti al mondo con 400 km
di piste. Si va dai primi metri sugli sci o
snowboard, accompagnati da maestri qualificati sino ad arrivare a piste veramente
tecniche per agonisti. Altrettanto ricca è
l’offerta per i praticanti di sci di fondo e sci
alpinismo con percorsi adatti a tutti dai
principianti agli specialisti. Per i fuoripista
l’Heliski rappresenta un’opportunità da
non perdere. Per i bambini spazi ludici
sulla neve sono l’ideale per giocare e divertirsi con o senza sci. Completano il quadro invernale, il taxi bob sulla pista di Cesana, evoluzioni in auto sulla pista di
ghiaccio di Pragelato, escursioni in motoslitta, con le ciaspole (racchette per camminare sulla neve), a piedi o sulla slitta

IN SUMMER AS WELL
Besides skiing, you can try other sports and experience different emotions during a summer stay in
our resorts. From mountain-biking on the many and
diversified courses that are part of the Alpi Bike Resort circuit, to the extreme Downhill MTB on the run
that dives from Mount Fraiteve to reach Sestriere, at
2.035 meters. From football to swimming, the Olympic mountains host training sessions for a variety of
different sports. Alpine or horse tours, canoeing, kayaking, rafting, grass ski, walking in the open, glamorous tournaments on the exclusive golf course greens
are only a few of the many summer activities that
supplement the traditional events held in the area.

Non solo sci ma anche tanti altri sport, altre passioni,
si possono vivere durante un soggiorno sulle nostre
montagne. Dalla mountain bike in tutte le sue
espressioni con le piste che fanno parte del circuito
Alpi Bike Resort con l’estrema Downhill Mtb con un
percorso che scende in picchiata dal Monte Fraiteve
sino ai 2.035 metri di Sestriere. Attività aperte anche
ai disabili che anche in estate possono trovare tantissimi sport “estremi” come le speciali hand bike per
downhill. Dal calcio al nuoto, le montagne olimpiche
sono sede d’allenamento in quota per una moltitudine di discipline sportive. Escursioni alpinistiche, a
cavallo, canoa, kayak, rafting, sci d’erba, passeggiate
nel verde, prestigiosi tornei di golf sugli esclusivi
green in quota sono soltanto una parte delle attività
estive che vanno ad aggiungersi ad eventi e manifestazioni tradizionali ospitati sul territorio.

Cesana, Pragelato, Sauze di Cesana e Sestriere, 4 comuni che ospitano sul proprio territorio ben 48 antiche borgate, piccole frazioni alpine dove il tempo si
è fermato. Alcune di esse custodiscono ancora oggi
l’essenza della vita in alta montagna. La tradizione
rivive negli antichi costumi, che si possono ammirare al Museo del Costume di Pragelato e sfoggiati in
occasione di feste ed eventi, e balli accompagnati
dall’inconfondibile suono della “ghironda”.
OLD VILLAGES WHERE TIME HAS STOPPED
Cesana, Pragelato, Sauze di Cesana and Sestriere, 4
municipalities that host as much as 48 old villages,
small alpine hamlets where time has stopped. Some of
them still preserve the essence of life in the mountains.
Tradition comes back to life in the old costumes, that
are exhibited in the Custome Museum in Pragelato
and worn during festivals and events, where people
dance to the music of the unmistakable barrel organ.

Gli sport invernali hanno trovato nelle nostre montagne un palcoscenico ideale per sfide su ghiaccio e
neve. Il numero di medaglie, comprese quelle
Olimpiche e Paralimpiche, conquistate in questo
angolo di Piemonte è in crescita continua. I Mondiali di Sci Alpino del ’97, quelli di Sci Disabili 2011,
tantissime gare di Coppa del Mondo di Sci Alpino,
Sci di Fondo, Salto dal Trampolino, Biathlon, Bob,
Slittino, Skeleton, tutto tra Sestriere, Pragelato, Cesana. Tanti gli eventi estivi il ciclismo: dalle tappe
alpine del Giro d’Italia e del Tour de France a competizioni internazionali ed amatoriali. Per motori la
mitica Cesana-Sestriere, cronoscalata per auto storiche, ed il SestriereStorico, gara di regolarità per vetture d’epoca. Spazio anche a trial e turismo in motocicletta con strade e percorsi veramente coinvolgenti. Ma le montagne olimpiche rappresentano

HERE EVENTS HAPPEN ALL YEAR ROUND
Winter sports found here an ideal theatre for challenging feats on snow and ice. The number of medals,
including the Olympics and Paralympics ones, won
in this spot of Piedmont is constantly increasing. The
Alpine Skiing World Championships in 1997, the
Skiing ones for the Disabled in 2011, the many Alpine Skiing World Cups, the Cross-country Skiing,
Springboard Jump, Biathlon, Bobsled, Sledge and
Skeleton competitions are among the large number
of events held and to come in the area of Sestriere,
Pragelato, Cesana.
Many are the cycling events taking place in summer:
from the alpine laps of the “Giro d’Italia” and the
“Tour de France”, to international as well as amateur
competitions. As for car sports, the legendary “Cesana-Sestriere”, uphill time trial for vintage cars, and
the “SestriereStorico”, reliability trial for vintage cars.
Scope is available as well for motorcycle trial and
tourism motor-biking on truly enthralling roads and
routes. The Olympic mountains are also an ideal training site for athlees and teams playing different
sports, who, thanks to the accommodation and sporting facilities available as well as to benefit from training at high altitude, schedule major challenging
events on our mountains.

rappresentano il “clou” dell’offerta turistica assieme
a tennis, piscina, calcio, pista di atletica ed altre
importanti strutture sportive. Sestriere è tappa del
circuito Alpi Bike Resort con un bike-park, una pista
per downhill Mtb, e percorsi specifici per le
mountain bike collegati con le stazioni limitrofe
delle montagne olimpiche.
Vetta delle montagne olimpiche piemontesi e del
comprensorio sciistico della Vialattea, dall’alto dei
2.035 metri, il Comune di Sestriere si trova sul colle
omonimo a cavallo della Val Chisone e della Valle
di Susa. Le origini di Sestriere sono molto recenti: il
comune sorse per regio decreto il 18 ottobre 1934.
È costituito da quattro nuclei abitativi: Sestriere
Colle, Sestriere Borgata, Champlas du Col e
Champlas Janvier. Dalla Coppa del Mondo di Sci, ai
Mondiali di Sci del 1997, sino alle Olimpiadi e
Paralimpiadi Invernali di Torino 2006: Sestriere è la
località sciistica che in assoluto ha ospitato il
maggior numero di gare titolate a livello
internazionale. In estate l’esclusivo campo da golf a

of 2,035 meters, the town of Sestriere is situated on
the homonym hill astride the Val Chisone and Valle
di Susa. The origins of Sestriere is very recent: the
town was founded by royal decree October 18,
1934. It consists of four residential areas: Sestriere
Colle, Sestriere Borgata, and Col du Champlas
Champlas Janvier. From World Cup Skiing, World
Cup Ski 1997, until the Olympic and Paralympic
Winter Games of Torino 2006: Sestriere is the ski

resort that hosted the largest absolute number of
titles raced at international level. In summer, the
exclusive 18-hole golf course, among the highest in
Europe, and all the features of the proposed hiking
the mountains, are the "highlights" of tourism
along with tennis, swimming, football, athletics
and other major sports facilities. Sestriere is a point
on the circuit Alpi Bike Resort with a bike park, a
trail for downhill MTB, and paths for mountain
biking linked to the neighboring stations of the
Olympic Mountains.
Sull’antica strada romana che portava dalla Pianura
Padana alle Gallie, ai piedi del monte Chaberton
(3.131 m.slm) sorge oggi il Comune di Cesana
Torinese (1.354 m.slm) in Alta Valle Susa. Un
comune ricco di storia formato da 11 incantevoli
frazione alpine sparse in quota sino a 2000 metri ed
oltre d’altitudine. Cesana è crocevia del
comprensorio sciistico della Vialattea con le piste
dei Monti della Luna verso Claviere e quelle di
Sansicario che collegano a Sestriere. Sede di gara
delle Olimpiadi Invernali di Torino 2006, con le gare
di bob, slittino e skeleton a Cesana Pariol e di
biathlon a Sansicario, è divenuta un riferimento per
gli appassionati di sci e degli sport invernali. Il
vastissimo territorio alpino è meta di escursionismo
sia in estate che in inverno in un paesaggio tutto da

scoprire a partire dalle splendide frazioni, passando
per rifugi ed alpeggi, che testimoniano, oggi come
un tempo, uno stile di vita a contatto con la natura.
Eventi e manifestazione accompagnano il soggiorno
dei turisti tutto l’anno. Tra i più significativi
ricordiamo la Chaberton Maraton, gara estrema per
sky runners, e la Cartoon Rapid Race, divertente
sfida per imbarcazioni di cartone sulle acque del
fiume Dora che attraversa il paese.
On the ancient road connecting the Po plain to the
Gaul, at the foot of mount Chaberton (3.131 m) is now
located the municipality of Cesana Torinese (1.354 m)
in the High Susa valley. A resort rich in history
consisting of 11 alpine hamlets scattered up to 2.000
m and above. Cesana is crossroads of the Vialattea
skiing area with the runs of the so called “Monti della
Luna” towards Claviere and the ones in Sansicario that
reach Sestriere. During the winter Olympics “Torino
2006” it hosted the bob, sledge and skeleton
competitions in Cesana Pariol and the biathlon ones
in Sansicario and has now become a point of reference
for skiing and winter sport funs. The very large alpine
area encourages tours and hiking both in summer and
winter, to discover wonderful landscapes, crossing
charming hamlets to reach refuges and mountain
pastures, that are still evidence of a life style in touch
with nature. The many events that take place all year
round top off the offer for the tourists. Among the
most important, the Chaberton Marathon, extreme
competition for sky runners, and the Cartoon Rapid
Race, amusing challenge for pasteboard boats on the
Dora river that crosses the resort.

collegate sci ai piedi, per un’estensione lineare di 400 Km che si
collocano tra i 1350 ed i 2800 metri. Comprensorio internazionale

anche chi non è esperto può spingersi sino a Monte Fraiteve, a
quota 2700 metri, nodo nevralgico della Vialattea e può scegliere
di sciare sui vari versanti. Lo sci itinerante è molto apprezzato dallo
sciatore e rappresenta indubbiamente uno dei punti di forza del
comprensorio. La Vialattea permette di scegliere un’area sciistica
o un itinerario differente ogni giorno.
The Vialattea skiing area offers a variety of opportunities: more than
200 ski-connected runs that stretch over a 400-Km area between
1350 and 2800 m altitude. The skiing area spreads out between Italy
and France, enclosing Sestriere, Sauze d’Oulx, Sansicario, Cesana,
Oulx, Claviere, Pragelato to reach the French Montgenèvre. Thanks
to the new connections among the different areas, also beginners
may venture as far as Mount Fraiteve, nerve centre of the Vialattea
at 2700 m altitude, and ski on different slopes. Skiers highly
appreciate wandering skiing, that undoubtedly represents one of
this area strong points. In the Vialattea you can choose a different
area or route every day.

Sauze di Cesana is a typical alpine resort overlooking
the Argentera valley, located between Cesana and
Sestriere. All-season mountain tourism is the drive
behind its economy and is boosted by a landscape
that has guarded jealously the secrets of a wild and
unpolluted environment. The area includes the old
hamlets of Rollieres and Bessen Haut, Bessen Bass
and the more modern, but still typical tourists’ centre

L’associazione Mondo Artigiani e
Noleggi, riunisce undici noleggi
di sci punto di riferimento per i
turisti. Qualità e professionalità
nel servizio sono di casa in ogni
centro associato. Personale competente ed attrezzatura completa per lo sci o snowboard
sono a disposizione degli ospiti.
Particolare cura anche nella manutenzione degli sci con trattamenti classici come la sciolinatura sino ad interventi più radicali per la preparazione di sci o
snowboard da gara. In estate le
stesse strutture forniscono il servizio di noleggio delle mountain
bike e di attrezzatura specifica
per la montagna. L’associazione
può contare anche su auto noleggi con conducente ed artigiani qualificati per interventi e
ristrutturazioni in loco.
The association “Mondo Artigiani
e Noleggi” consists of eleven
skiing equipment rental centres
for tourists. All member centre
operate with quality and professionalism offering to the guests
qualified advice and complete
skiing and snowboarding equipment. Special care is given to ski
maintenance activities as well,
that range from the typical ones,
such as waxing, to the most complicated ones, such as competition skiing and snowboarding
equipment setting. In summer
the centres offer mountain bike
and mountain special equipment
rental service. The association includes car hire with driver and
qualified craftsman as well, who
carry out technical interventions
and renovation works on the
spot.

L’associazione Scuole di Sci e Sci
Club di Sestriere rappresenta le
scuole di sci e snowboard presenti sul territorio di Sestriere
che sono: la Scuola Sci Extreme,
la Scuola Nazionale Sci Sestriere,
la Scuola Sci Olimpionica, la
Scuola Sci Sestriere Borgata e la
Freewhite, quest’ultima specializzata nell’insegnamento a persone disabili. Oltre 300 maestri
di sci, compresi quelli che lavorano all’interno degli sci club
aderenti all’associazione, con un
vivaio di giovani atleti che supera le mille unità. Lo splendido comprensorio della Vialattea rappresenta il luogo ideale
per sciare a tutti i livelli: dal
principiante all’agonista. Una
buona tecnica significa sciare in
sicurezza!
The association “Scuole di Sci e
Sci Club di Sestriere” represent the
ski and snowboard schools in the
area of Sestriere and includes
Scuola Sci Extreme”, “Scuola Nazionale Sci Sestriere”, “Scuola Sci
Olimpionica”, “Scuola Sci Sestriere Borgata” and “Freewhite”,
that is specialist in teaching the
disabled. More than 300 ski instructors, including the ones working in the ski club and who are
members of the association, and
a breeding ground of more than
one thousand young athletes.
The gorgeous Vialattea skiing
area is an ideal place for everybody to ski, from beginners to

The Sestrieres SpA is the company
running all lifting facilities and
courses of the Vialattea international skiing area. Vialattea means
skiing on the champions’ runs, the
same ones that hosted the XX Winter Olympics “Torino 2006”. Vanguard lifting facilities, competition
technical and extraordinary runs
as well as an upgraded and highly
technological system for programmed artificial snow covering. Vialattea means vast spaces, scenic
runs that connect typical Provençal
baita villages to modern ones supplied with all comforts and entertainment facilities. Thanks to its expanse and variety, this area is suitable both for the most exacting
skiers, that can measure themselves against long and demanding
runs, and those ones approaching
the skiing world for the first time.
The Association of the Entrepreneurs of Sestriere gathers firms
operating in different segments,
ranging from tourism to services.
The goal is to coordinate efforts,
