Costs: The registration fee includes a discounted shooting fee which will include a one year membership to Michigan Traditional Bow hunters; along with two nights lodging in Grayling at the campground in rented tents. There will also be a screen tent on site. Dinner will be provided on Friday and Saturday evening, and breakfast on both Saturday and Sunday. Lunch on Saturday can be purchased at the shooting area or off site. Gear: Participants should bring refillable water bottle, sleeping pad/air mattress and sleeping bag, a camp chair to sit by the fire and outdoor gear appropriate for the weather. (See additional information below for more recommended items.) About the trip: Participants will meet in Grayling at the Hanson Hills Recreational Area on Friday June 24th at 1 p.m. to check in with the instructors then proceed to the campground area and settle in. Orientation and shooting begins at 2 on the course. Dinner (drinks are on your own) will be at Bear’s Den Pizza after the shoot with a campfire at the campgrounds that evening. Please see attached detailed schedule for more information; schedule is subject to change. Each tent will hold 2 participants; assignments will be made by the instructor. If you are coming with a friend, please notify us so we know to pair you together. We will need to rent the tents so it is imperative that you let us know if you are staying on site so we can rent enough for everyone. Breakfast is provided on both mornings. We will then shoot the course. There are many different scenarios, including a possible shoot from a canoe; the instructors would paddle while you have an attempt to shoot. There are also a few raffles that take place on Saturday – please bring extra cash if you wish to enter. There will be a few hours of free time each day; see Things to do in Grayling (next page). You may decide to just relax, go for a hike on a local trail, visit the shops downtown or bring some fishing equipment and fish. Fishing is not part of the weekend activity; there is no instruction. A MI fishing license is needed - a year ($26) or a 24 hour ($10) (if you decide to partake you may want to purchase your license ahead of time, however they can also be purchased at one of the shops in downtown Grayling). There are two trout streams, the Au Sable and the Manistee, in the area to fish. We ask that you let one of the instructors know where you will be during these times and when you will return and ask that no one “explores” alone. Please provide contact information to the instructors such as a cell phone number. We don’t want anyone to get lost, etc. Sunday morning shooting is optional and on your own. You must have some traditional archery experience or have taken the archery class at a previous BOW to attend this workshop! The workshop is limited to six women. This campground is considered primitive style camping: there is no electricity, or showers in the campground – there is a porta-potty though. At the shooting range they do have flush toilets If you have any questions regarding the weekend please contact Nicole Watson @ [email protected] or myself (Sharon) at 906-228-6561. ***Please note if you have dietary restrictions – plan on bringing your own food – we are unable to accommodate specific diets.
