RFID Tags RFID Tag Manufacturers All Michigan cattle must have a ‘button’ type Radio Frequency Identification Device (RFID) or visual ‘bangle’ type tag or combination RFID/bangle before they leave farm premises. These types of tags have a unique 15-digit number beginning with 840, are tamper resistant and bear the US shield. RFID 840 tags may only be applied to cattle born in the US. A Standardized National Premises Identification Number (PIN) is required to purchase ‘840’ tags or devices. Please note – MDARD does not endorse these companies Silver/ ‘Brite’ or NUES Metal Tags For cattle entering Michigan, accredited veterinarians and producers (with MDARD agreement) can order free National Uniform Eartagging System (NUES) tags. Accredited veterinarians can apply these tags for disease testing or animal identification for movement. Brucellosis or ‘Bangs’ Tags (Female Cattle Only) Accredited veterinarians can apply orange metal or a RFID tag at time of brucellosis vaccination in heifers. ALLFLEX USA, INC.
