Creating Images and Video
Everyone does it these days
Smartphones are replacing cameras
Cameras make images or videos and upload
them to the cloud (HIPAA!)
Put in a patient’s medical record
Should we use them in presentations,
publications, or on the clinic Facebook page?

If an image of any part of patient to be used
(image, x-ray, video…) – even if patient not
recognizable

1. Upload your own video to YouTube or locate
a video on YouTuve to use in your
presentation
2. Online, locate and copy the Embed Code
3. In PowerPoint, Insert video from web, and
paste embed code
4. Resize black box that is inserted
5. Run SlideShow: and click on the

Considerations for Videos
PowerPoint 2010-13 incorporates video in the
.pptx file
Note file size issues
A 3M file becomes a 100M file easily.
Over 20M can not be emailed
Option: Get a YouTube Account and upload
the video to YouTube. You can set privacy so
that only you can access it.

In FireFox: Navigate to video on YouTube…

Click icon and download streaming video

Now you an link to the file or insert the video
into your presentation

If you have videos with sound
Check the following before you start your
presentation in the room where giving:
Your internet connection
MAKE Sure your connected to SPEAKERS that
are turned on
Test and set the volume so everyone can hear

Many good image and video resources
Use these effectively. Do not distort. Crop.
Set a good example…attribute media
copyright and cite correctly.
Keep in mind internet connections. Test audio
and internet before presentation.
