While most of the original forests were logged in the 18th and 19th centuries, farming has allowed many native wood lots to be preserved, creating a unique landscape of scenic vistas and pastoral life.

The Nature Center has over 2 miles clearly marked hiking trails for everyone to enjoy. The trails are open daily from dawn till dusk and are bound by the Pine River which adds to the scenic beauty. The nature center offers organized activities for scouts and school groups to come and enjoy nature.
