My company is in the business of pumping and servicing septic tanks. As a part of that
business, the septage must be disposed of in an environmentally safe manner once it has been
removed from the septic tank. I am required by law to renew my septage waste license and
land application permit every 5 years and this notification is required by Section 11709 of
Part 117, Septage Waste Servicers, of the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection
Act, 1994 PA 451, as amended (Part 117). Please note that this site was previously authorized
by the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ). Additional information about this
site and my business can be found on the DEQ Septage Waste Program website at
www.michigan.gov/deqseptage and then clicking on the Septage Haulers Directory under
Online Services.
My method of disposal involves the recycling nutrients contained in the septage by uniform
application and incorporation into the soil with subsequent planting and harvest of crops. These
requirements ensure pathogen reduction, vector attraction reduction and nutrient uptake.
I am also attaching the following information for you as required by Part 117:

A map identifying the site from a county land atlas and plat book.
The site location by latitude and longitude.
The name and address of the land owner.
The name and address of the manager of the land, if different than the owner.
The requirements of the law are designed to protect the environment and the public’s health,
and my company fully intends to comply with those requirements. There may be conditions,
however, which we are not aware of that could prevent the use of the site. Please forward any
