NRC ASSIGNS NEW RESIDENT INSPECTOR
TO SUSQUEHANNA NUCLEAR POWER PLANT
Jonathan Greives has been selected as the new Nuclear
Regulatory Commission resident inspector at the Susquehanna Steam
Electric Station in Berwick, Pa. He joins NRC Senior Resident
Inspector Pat Finney at the two-unit site, operated by PPL.
“Jon Greives’ experience, training and commitment to safety
will help the NRC in its mission of protecting people and the
environment by helping ensure that Susquehanna continues to meet the
high standards set by the agency,” acting NRC Region I Administrator Marc L. Dapas said.
Greives joined the NRC in June 2009 after serving seven years in the United States
Navy’s nuclear power program. During his naval service, he was a staff instructor at the Naval
Nuclear Power Training Command and served aboard the USS Wyoming, a nuclear submarine.
He is now a lieutenant in the Navy Reserve.
Greives is a graduate of Bucknell University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in
electrical engineering. He also completed the Navy’s nuclear power training program and a
rigorous NRC inspector qualification program.
Each U.S. commercial nuclear plant has at least two NRC resident inspectors. They serve
as the agency's eyes and ears at the facility, conducting inspections, monitoring major work
projects and interacting with plant workers and the public.
The Susquehanna resident inspectors can be reached at (570) 542-2134.
