No: I-14-031 CONTACT: Diane Screnci 610-337-5330 Neil Sheehan 610-337-5331 July 24, 2014 New NRC Senior Resident Inspector Assigned to Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Plant Nuclear Regulatory Commission officials in King of Prussia, Pa., have selected Rodney Clagg as the new senior resident inspector at the Calvert Cliffs nuclear plant in Lusby, Md. The two-unit site is operated by Exelon. “Rodney Clagg has the experience, training and commitment to safety that is needed for the NRC to carry out its mission of protecting people and the environment. He and Resident Inspector Edgardo Torres will assist the NRC in carrying out its mission of protecting people and the environment by ensuring the safe operation of Calvert Cliffs,” said NRC Region I Administrator Bill Dean. Clagg joined the NRC’s Region III office as a reactor engineer in 2006. For the past seven years, he has been the resident inspector at the North Anna nuclear plant in Louisa, Va. Prior to joining the NRC, he served as an officer in the U.S. Navy. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy with a bachelor’s degree in oceanography, and earned a master’s in engineering management from Old Dominion University. Each U.S. commercial nuclear power plant site has at least two NRC Resident Inspectors. They serve as the agency’s eyes and ears at the facility, conducting inspections, monitoring significant work projects, and interacting with plant workers and the public.
