o Classified organisms into 2 kingdoms
o Developed binomial nomenclature
 Systematics (modern classification)
o Uses many kinds of evidence (cell type, structure, DNA,
habitat, etc.) to classify
o Starts with Domains
 Binomial Nomenclature (scientific names)
o Two-name naming system
o Genus and species
 Genus = group of similar species
 Species = group of organisms that have similar
traits and are able to interbeed and produce fertile
offspring
 Scientific Names
o Same everywhere!
o Avoids confusion
