HANA not only represents the intellectual renewal of SAP, it is now the platform for every single thing the SAP company will do going forward.” Bill McDermott, CEO, SAP Sapphire Conference Keynote, May 2013 * * Source: CRN News Increasingly customers are transforming SAP to lower operational cost to “keep the lights on” and to enable faster innovation with accelerated time to market with mobile “consumer grade” apps, real-time analytics and reporting, and to enhance the customers experience real-time. As a result, Enterprise IT is under tremendous pressure from developers, end users, line-of-business owners – to eliminate complexity and increase agility by quickly delivering the right infrastructure IT services and applications to support the business, no matter what their projects require. Over 70% of our surveyed customer’s CIOs demanded, IT needs to build and operate a well-run hybrid cloud in order to balance these needs, since private cloud by itself does not provide the flexibility and cost efficiency needed and public cloud introduces challenges on security and in many cases compliance. Rethinking ITaaS for SAP ITaaS provides IT leaders the flexibility to manage costs, enhance service delivery, and meet the evolving expectations of a tech-savvy, mobile workforce depending on SAP Business Suite and SAP HANA. Specifically in; “consumer grade” applications, real-time analytics and reporting and EMC IT Transformation "EMC IT Propel Operational Achievements: “Maintenance spending has dropped from 80 to 58 percent, enabling an increase in innovation spending from 20 to 42 percent. Next Up: Delivering IT-as-a-Service ESG Study March 2013 Responding faster to drive new revenue by enabling faster time to market for enhancing customer experience real-time. Refocusing towards business value with ensured optimal performance for SAP, an expanded IT self-service portfolio, and financial transparency. Transforming “Shadow IT” into a business asset by monitoring and managing hybrid SAP workloads, maintaining enterprise security and control, and reduce risk/complexity for SAP projects and data. Also, CIOs will increasingly become brokers of a portfolio of SAP applications and IT services across a hybrid cloud with SAP workloads potentially running: On-premises in a private cloud Off – premises in a virtual private cloud (VPC) as managed IT with SAP system integrator or service provider and/or, Off-premises in a public cloud such as VMware vCHS and Amazon Web Services PURPOSE This Solution Description Guide serves as the introduction to EMC Hybrid Cloud with VMware for SAP.
