Up on the house top...
With the holidays in full swing, folks are getting in the mood by
decorating their homes or businesses for the season. As a few of us were out and about the other
day we wound our way through the neighborhoods.
Not only did we notice some fabulous displays, but
we saw an extra decoration-many are ladders still
leaning up against the house which had been used
to place the decorations.
There have been instances where burglars have used ladders to access homes from the second floor. Even this time of year folks feel
safe about leaving that window cracked for some fresh air.
Don’t create this opportunity and put the ladder away when not in use.
Also, by leaving your ladder out for all to see you could be inviting a
crook to steal the ladder. We want you to enjoy the season not be
troubled by being a victim of crime.
If you go away during the holidays...
A few tips if your planning on being gone during the holidays.
-Make sure your outdoor lighting is working.
-Set automatic timers for indoor lights and outdoor holiday lighting.
-Have a neighbor, friend or relative keep an eye on the house.
-Provide a phone number where you can be reached. In the case that
something should happen while your away you would be able to be
notified.
-Make sure your home is locked.
