SCOPING SUMMARY REPORT RELATED TO THE
ENVIRONMENTAL SCOPING PROCESS FOR THE TURKEY
POINT UNITS 6 AND 7 COMBINED LICENSE APPLICATION
The staff of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) conducted a scoping process, from
June 15, 2010 to August 16, 2010, to determine the scope of the NRC staff’s environmental
review of the combined license application for Turkey Point Units 6 and 7. As part of the
scoping process, the NRC staff held public scoping meetings in Homestead, Florida on
July 15, 2010, to solicit public input regarding the scope of the environmental review.
The NRC staff has prepared the enclosed scoping summary report, which identifies comments
either received at the public scoping meetings, by letter, or by electronic mail and provides
responses to those comments. In accordance with 10 CFR 51.29(b), all participants of the
scoping process (who have provided mailing information) will be provided with a copy of the
scoping summary report. The transcripts of the scoping meetings are publicly available in the
NRC Agencywide Documents and Management System under accession number
ML102080607.
The next step in the environmental review process is the issuance of a draft environmental
impact statement (EIS) scheduled for October 2011. Notice of the availability of the draft EIS
and the procedures for providing comments will be published in an upcoming Federal Register
Notice.
