Kugler, Senior Environmental Project Manager /RA/ Environmental Projects Branch 2 Division of Site and Environmental Reviews Office of New Reactors SUBJECT: SCOPING SUMMARY REPORT RELATED TO THE ENVIRONMENTAL SCOPING PROCESS FOR THE TURKEY POINT UNITS 6 AND 7 COMBINED LICENSE APPLICATION The staff of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) conducted a scoping process, from June 15, 2010 to August 16, 2010, to determine the scope of the NRC staff’s environmental review of the combined license application for Turkey Point Units 6 and 7. As part of the scoping process, the NRC staff held public scoping meetings in Homestead, Florida on July 15, 2010, to solicit public input regarding the scope of the environmental review. The NRC staff has prepared the enclosed scoping summary report, which identifies comments either received at the public scoping meetings, by letter, or by electronic mail and provides responses to those comments. In accordance with 10 CFR 51.29(b), all participants of the scoping process (who have provided mailing information) will be provided with a copy of the scoping summary report. The transcripts of the scoping meetings are publicly available in the NRC Agencywide Documents and Management System under accession number ML102080607. The next step in the environmental review process is the issuance of a draft environmental impact statement (EIS) scheduled for October 2011. Notice of the availability of the draft EIS and the procedures for providing comments will be published in an upcoming Federal Register Notice.
