Out of the twenty-year passion and experience of
two businessmen from Veneto born SediAs to create
and distribute high quality chairs, with original finishing.

Asolo è uno dei piccoli centri storici più suggestivi, è stata selezionata come uno dei borghi più belli d’Italia ed è insignita del
premio “Città veneta della Cultura 2003”. La città conserva un
caratteristico aspetto medievale, raccolta entro le antiche mura
e dominata dalla Rocca. Molto suggestive sono le vie affiancate
dai portici ad arco gotico, dagli antichi palazzi e dalle case sulle
cui facciate, coperte da affreschi, si aprono graziosi balconi. Si
sottolineano poi il Castello della Regina che contiene oggi il
Teatro Duse, la Cattedrale al cui interno si può ammirare l’Assunta di Lorenzo Lotto ed il Museo civico che racconta arte,
miti e atmosfera della città. Di Asolo si innamorarono poeti
e scrittori, artisti e viaggiatori, portati dalle vicende storiche o
attratti dalla bellezza del luogo.
Asolo is one of the small and more evocative historic city centers, and
was chosen as the one of the most attractive village of Italy, and honored with “Venetian town of the culture 2003”. The town preserve
a characteristic medieval appearance, embraced within the ancient
walls and dominated by the Rocca (fortress.Magnificient) are the
roads alongside the porticos and the Gothic arch; from the ancient
palaces and from the houses on whose facades are covered with frescoes, you will notice beautiful balconies open up. We would like to
point out, The Castello della Regina, which has inside the Teatro
Duse; Inside The Cathedral you can admire l’Assunta of Lorenzo
Lotto and the Municipal Museum, which describe the myths and
atmosphere of the town. Poets and writers, artists and travelers, fell
in love with Asolo, they were carried from the historical events or
attracted by the beauty of the place.

Il castello, il cui primo impianto risale all’epoca romana, subì
alterne distruzioni e ricostruzioni. Nel XIII secolo l’edificio fu
dimora di Ezzelino III da Romano; passò poi ai Carraresi, signori di Padova, e dal 1261 alla città Comunale di Treviso.
La dominazione Veneziana, dal 1393 fino alla caduta della
Serenissima del 1797, fu il periodo di massimo splendore del
castello e del borgo stesso.
Il Castello, which construction is dated Roman age, was destroyed
and rebuilt lot of times. In the XIII century it was the abode of
Ezzelino III da Romano; then passed to the Carraresi, lords of
Padova and form 1261 to Treviso.
The Venetian domination, from 1393 until the collapse of the Serenissima in 1797, was the magnificent period for the Castello
and the village.
Dal 1489, il fortilizio fu affidato a Caterina Cornaro e divenne
dunque sede ufficiale della sua corte ed ospitò gli illustri ospiti
della regina.
Alla morte della Cornaro l’edificio divenne sede pretoria veneziana.
From 1489 became the ufficial location of the Caterina Cornaro’s
court and hosted the queen’s prestigious guests.
When C.Cornaro died the castle became the Venetian prethorium.

Caterina Corner, nome italianizzato in Cornaro, nacque a Venezia nel 1454. Nel 1472 la diciottenne Caterina venne condotta a Famagosta, sull’isola di Cipro, dove furono celebrate
nozze con il re di Cipro e Armenia. Un anno dopo il re morì
lasciando la vedova incinta.
Regina di Cipro, governò con molto senno l’isola, che poi
cedette alla Repubblica Veneta. Il Senato, avendola adottata come figlia si San Marco al tempo delle sue nozze, le vietò
di risposarsi. In compenso, le donò Asolo, dove tenne la sua
splendida Corte, illustrata da Pietro Bembo che qui ambientò
Gli Asolani.
Morì a Venezia il 10 luglio 1510

Caterina Corner, Italianized name in Cornaro, was born in Venice in 1454. In 1472, as she was 18 years old, she was brought
to Famagosta, where she got married with the King of Cyprus and
Armenia. After one year the king died as she was pregnant.
Queen of Cyprus, she ruled with much wits the isle, that then gave
to the Republic of Veneto.
The senate, that adopted her as a child when she got married,
prohibited her to get marry again. To make up for it, the senate
gave her Asolo, where she settled her splendid court, illustrated by
Pietro Bembo who here located his Gli Asolani.
She died in Venice, in 1510, July the 10 th.

Eleonora Duse artista drammatica, nata a Vigevano nel 1858
da genitori artisti di teatro. La sua fama cominciò ad affermarsi
nel 1886. L’incontro a Venezia, nel 1894, con Gabriele D’Annunzio, darà inizio a un tempestoso legame sentimentale ed
artistico che durò una decina d’anni, e contribuì in modo determinante alla fama di D’Annunzio. La Duse, già celebre ed
acclamata in Europa e oltre oceano, portò infatti sulle scene i
drammi dannunziani, spesso finanziando ella stessa le produzioni e assicurando loro il successo e l’attenzione della critica anche fuori dall’Italia. Nel 1909 abbandonò il teatro, per
tornare sulle scene solo nel 1921. Morì nel corso dell’ultima
tournée americana, a Pittsburgh, il 21 aprile 1924.
È sepolta nel cimitero di Asolo, secondo la sua volontà.

The dramatic artist Eleonora Duse was born in Vigevano in 1858.
Her parents were theatrical artists. Her celebrity began in 1886.
After the meeting with Gabriele D’Annunzio in Venice, in 1894,
it started a stormy sentimental and artistic relationship which lasted about ten years and considerably contributed to d’Annunzio’s
fame. E. Duse, already famous and acclaimed in Europe and overseas, performed D’Annunzio’s dramas. Often she financed the theatrical productions, put them over and guaranteed the attention
of the critic, not only in Italy. In 1909 abandoned the stage and
returned back to the theatre only in 1921.
She died in 1924, during her last American travelling show, in
Pittsburgh, April the 21.
She is buried in the cemetery in Asolo, according to her will.

Madeleine Freya Stark, nata a Parigi il 31 gennaio 1893, è stata un’esploratrice e saggista britannica. Trascorse buona parte
della sua infanzia in Italia, ad Asolo. È famosa per le sue esplorazioni in Medio Oriente, le sue opere letterarie e il suo lavoro
di cartografia. Non solo fu una delle prime donne occidentali a
viaggiare nel Deserto Arabico, ma esplorò anche aree in cui pochi europei, e soprattutto donne sole, erano stati. Fu nominata
Dama dell’Ordine dell’Impero Britannico. Durante la Seconda
guerra mondiale collaborò col Ministro dell’Informazione e
contribuì alla creazione di una rete di propaganda che aveva il
compito di convincere gli arabi a sostenere gli Alleati o, almeno, a rimanere neutrali. Scrisse oltre due dozzine di libri basati
sui suoi viaggi. Morì ad Asolo il 9 maggio 1993.

Madeleine Freya Stark, born in Paris in 1893, Genuary the
31, was a British explorer and essayist. She spent big part of her
childhood in Italy, in the village of Asolo. She is famous for her
explorations in the Middle East, her literary works and her cartography job. She was not only one of the first western women who
travelled to Arabic Desert, but she also explored areas that very few
European people, especially women, did explore.
She was nominated mistress of the British Empire. During the second world war she collaborated with the Minister of Information
and contributed to create a network of promotion which task was
to convict Arabs to support allies or at least to be neutral. She wrote
more than two dozens of books, based on her travels. She died in
1993 in Asolo, May the 9.

La Rocca di Asolo è una fortezza situata sulla cima al Monte
Ricco, che sovrasta l’omonimo borgo.
La data di costruzione della attuale Rocca è stata posta tra la
fine del XII secolo e l’inizio del XIII secolo. Persa gradualmente
l’importanza strategica, la struttura venne adibita a svariati usi
diventando anche lazzaretto durante le continue pestilenze del
cinquecento. La massiccia costruzione ha pianta poligonale di
nove lati diseguali. Nelle muraglie, spesse alla base circa 4 m e
alte fino a 15 m, non si aprono feritoie o finestre: solo una porta, già collegata al castello inferiore, dava accesso al caposaldo
superiore del sistema difensivo della città.
La vera da pozzo e la sottostante cisterna, di foggia veneziana, è
databile al XIV secolo. L’ultimo restauro risale al 1994.

The Rocca is a fortress situated on Mount Ricco, over Asolo village.
The date of construction of the Rocca is between the end of XII
century and the beginning of the XIII one.
In the fifteen century during the pestilences this castle became also
a leper hospital.
This huge fortress has polygon plot of nine irregular sides. The walls,
large about 4 meters and high until 15 meters, have no airshafts:
only one door linked to the lower castle. The well and its cistern are
of the XIV century. The last restoration was made in 1994.

La via principale di Asolo è stata dedicata a Robert Browning
nato a Camberwell il 7 maggio 1812.
E’ stato un poeta e drammaturgo britannico, la cui grande abilità con i componimenti drammatici, soprattutto monologhi
drammatici, lo ha reso uno dei più importanti poeti della letteratura vittoriana.
Nel 1834 egli intraprese il suo primo viaggio in Italia, in cui
successivamente passò una buona parte della sua vita. Ad Asolo
visse nella Villa Scotti Pasini e la sua ultima raccolta, “Asolando” fu pubblicata il giorno stesso della sua morte che avvenne
a Venezia il 12 dicembre del 1889.

Asolo’s most important street was dedicated to Robert Browning,
born in Camberwell, May the 7, 1812.
He was a British poet and playwright, known especially for his
dramatic essays, above all dramatic monologues, that made him
one of the most important poets of the Victorian literature.
In 1834 he travelled to Italy, where he spent the most part of his
life. He lived in Asolo, in the Villa Scotti Pasini and his last anthology, Asolando, was published the day of his death, occurred in
Venice, December the 12, 1889.
