Choose a Child Care
Provider With a Permit
If your family child care provider has a child care permit from the
Fairfax County Office for Children, it means that he or she:
n Has an annual safety inspection from the Fire Marshal and
a child care specialist
n Has had thorough background checks of everyone in
the home age 14 or older
n Has a current CPR and first aid certificate
Fairfax County residents who care
for children in their homes are required by law to have a family
child care permit if they care
for up to five children,
or a state license if
they care for six
to 12 children.
