The following are highlights from the Board of Supervisors meeting held on February 16, 2016. Items below cover Hunter Mill District programs, actions, and residents, plus items impacting all of Fairfax County. PRESENTATIONS The Board received the County Executive’s presentation of the Proposed FY2017 and FY2018 Multi-Year Budget Plan. The proposed General Fund budget is $3.99 billion, a $168.7 million, or 4.4 percent increase over the FY2016 Budget. The County Executive also proposed a 4 cent tax rate increase that would generate an estimated $93 million in revenue, and recommended a $1.88 billion transfer to Fairfax County Public Schools – a 3 percent increase over last year. The County Executive’s budget presentation and information is available at http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/news2/county-executive-proposes-3-99-billion-budget-fiscal-yearbegins-july-1-2016/ ADMINISTRATIVE ITEMS Admin 4: The Board authorized advertisement of a public hearing for March 15, 2016, 4:00 p.m., on the proposed Consolidated Plan One-Year Action Plan for FY2017. ACTION ITEMS Action 2: The Board approved a resolution with the Town of Vienna for the design of pedestrian enhancement improvements along Creek Crossing Road. Action 4: The Board approved an amended agreement with the Town of Vienna to design and construct a stream restoration project on Hunters Branch Stream. ANNOUNCEMENTS Don’t Miss it! Help American’s Adopt A Soldier program reach their goal of collecting 500 donated working computer laptops/pads/tablets for homeless youth in Fairfax County. You can drop off your donation to the Hunter Mill District Supervisor’s Office at 1801 Cameron Glen Drive, Reston, through February 29, 2016. For additional information, call 703278-3718.
