CEA President’s Message
It seems like doom and gloom
are all around us as we listen to
the radio, watch the TV, and read
the newspaper. The nation is
hurting in many areas and it
ultimately has affected all of us.
Unfortunately the university isn’t
spared as the state finds itself in a
financial shortfall and we have
been asked to take budget cuts.
As President Albrecht and his
committee discuss ways to come
up with additional money or to
cut areas, we as classified
employees can do our part in
helping. We all need to pitch in
and take up the slack wherever
needed. We can all help with
energy costs by cutting back on
waste and excess use. Just a
simple gesture of turning off a
light in a restroom when leaving
will help.
In spite of these hard times,
good things continue to happen
across campus and specifically
with the classified employees.
We have just awarded
employee of the quarter for the
forward to our annual ski night at
Beaver Mountain in January.
We are working with our
Legislatures to encourage their
support on issues that greatly
affect the staff at USU.
Many things are in the works
for this coming year. So in spite
of the doom and gloom, I am
excited for the future and hope
that we will all work together to
make good things happen that
will benefit all of us.
Thank you for all you do and
carry on.

the CEA website in March 2009
and awards will be given out at the
2009 CEA banquet in the spring.
If you are already donating to
the CEA scholarship fund, please
contact the Development Office and
make sure your donation is going to

two people that we know of who
thought they were donating to CEA
and they were not but were able to
redirect their donation to CEA.

Be Well Holiday Challenge
It’s that time of year again. The
air is getting cooler, the days are
getting shorter, and your jeans are
getting tighter. Beginning in
October, we seem to have four
months of feasting. It begins with
Halloween candy in October, then
Thanksgiving pies, and December
“goodies” at the worksite and social
gatherings.
If you are one of those people
who fall into the trap of overindulging around the holidays, you are not
alone. Statistics show that
Americans will gain anywhere from 1-10
pounds during the holiday months.
People tend to eat more, and exercise less.
The good news is that you don’t
have to fall into this rut! With a
little personal motivation and some
help from Employee Wellness, you
can maintain your weight over the
holidays and also earn prizes while
you become healthier! The Be Well
holiday challenge runs from
November 17 to January 11.
