Saturday, March 29 – Wednesday, April 30 Green Days, formerly known as SUNY Cortland Sustainability Month, is a celebration of our earth, our community and the ways we interact with both. Join SUNY Cortland as we learn, grow and celebrate together throughout the month of April with events, speakers and programs that promote living a sustainable life. Cortland Green Days was launched on March 29, with the national Earth Hour blackout. A host of sustainability activities and events includes lectures, Sandwich Seminars, the annual sustainable luncheon, a campus litter cleanup, poster sessions, stargazing in the new Bowers planetarium, movies, ASC’s “Get Wasted” composting demo, a campus tree walk, a GMO egg hunt, Transformations Keynote speaker and the Grand Opening of the newly renovated Bowers Hall. Cortland Blooms, an Earth Ship Tour, Hoxie Gorge hike, and a community bike “Glow Ride” are also being planned in the greater Cortland community. The campus will celebrate official Earth Day on April 22 with “FesTREEval!”, a free interactive campus/community event to be held in Corey Union, featuring food, music, games and sustainable activities. Green Days concludes with the official kickoff celebration of the campus’ Solar Panel (PV) initiative, on May 9.
