In an attempt to u.suge the concern expressed

publish bellow corrected statements of the errone·

(1) "Quarterly exa.minations were offieiaUy dis·

ha..sty distortion of foggy reeoUtction should have
related tltat the report.i..ng- of grades for aU atodenta

groping for a precedent, our attitudes as e.xpreued
in the body of the editorial remain u•hanged.
(2) The final pa~ph of the some editorial
concerned the scheduling of activities during the
period in which quarterly and final examinatlons
are given. An implied criticism of the Student
Affairs Committee in permitting suc::h conflicts waa
probably without foundation. Preeident Morley's
recent definition of the functions of the Committee

Whether s uch events a.1 Maln Line Forum~ a nd

form referred to, s tudents were instructed, ''From
the list below note 3 courses you might elect," and
further, " In ease the courses listed above do not

requirementa, or do not help further your general
program, choose from the Catalog substitutes for
whAt you have put down and list below." Bad
Oppenhelmer not written the letter, the NEWS

shock of those eighteen courses. A second reading
of the entire form cushions the shock, and we can
only trust that Oppenheimer's, and our own, alarm
