Banner is an enterprise,
relational database where
business information and
function will be shared under one
system.
Because of this shared nature of
the database, data entry
standards are needed.
Example: How will “Sault Ste.
Marie” be entered into Banner?
Need standards:
• Reduce duplicate personal
identification records through
reliable search of existing
records,
• Promote search capability
through uniform data entry,
• Promote reporting efforts
based on presentation,
retrieval and joins of the data,

and how they defined data

review and add to the list as far
as everything we need to define
