How will what you learned be beneficial to BP? • Stage 4 – Online Tests – verbal, numerical and spatial reasoning • Stage 5 – Interviews − Technical Interview − Personal Skills Interview 2 The Internship Scheme • 11 Weeks in Aberdeen or Sunbury, London • Students in penultimate year of degree– preferred masters or pHD, not always the case • Salary £20,000 per annum – pays for accommodation and living over the internship • Approx 100 internships p/a − 40% Engineering − 40% Science − 20% Business • c. 50% of interns made a graduate offer in 2009 and similar trend in 2010 • National award winning programme 3 MY PROJECT MADOES - THE FOURTH DIMENSION 4 GEOPHYSICS − Seismic Interpretation − Learnt to use Seisworks software − Built a rock properties model in ‘RocDoc’ –to show how changes in the reservoir rock properties directly impact the way oil volumes are calculated and predicted. − Worked with Reservoir Engineers and Petrophysicists − Present findings at ‘Geoscience Network Conference’ 5 Continuous Assessment • Ongoing − Internship performance monitored by Line Manager − Mid internship review and end of internship appraisal • Final assessment − Grad Assessment Centre − Series of group exercises based on typical BP projects − Technical Presentation – experts in the field 6 The Graduate Offer • 3 year Early Experience programme − Typically 2 x 18 month or 3 x 1 year roles − Focus on on-the-job training − Offshore trips − Clear competency framework backed up by supportive assessment process − Mentor − Competitive salary and benefits package − London or Aberdeen ... ? 7
