Alcohol-Involved Crash is defined as drinking prior to the crash by a driver as reported by the police, the
coroner, or other accepted authorities. The information provided for alcohol contains data for alcoholrelated crashes only. This figure DOES NOT include the combined number for alcohol and drug related
crashes as has been reported in prior years.
Rates were calculated as the number of alcohol-involved traffic crashes that happened in a county
divided by the total annual vehicle miles traveled in that county from 2006-2010 and multiplied by one
million.
