Research on Master thesis on the topic: “Sex differences in cocaine addiction in
prenatally stressed rats”.
During this internship I worked with the “Prenatal stress model” in rats and dealt
with behavioural tests such as: Elevated Plus maze, Forced swim test, Locomotor
activity, Black and white box, Conditioned place preference paradigm, Social
memory, Splash test, Y maze and Novelty seeking. In addition, I acquired
experience in behavioural analysis using Observer 5.0 and basic notions of
Statistica. I performed intraperitoneal injections, ovariectomy, orchidectomy and
brain implants on rodents. Moreover, I became familiar with biomolecular
techniques such as PCR, Elisa, RNA extractions, and Western Blots.

I was exposed to everyday activities in a busy hospital laboratory. Duties ranged
from organizing incoming blood samples at the front desk, to blood analysis in the
lab. During the period I used specialized equipment such as Liaison and lab
analysis machine for Vitamin D assays.

Park surveillance and animator for children. This experience taught me how to
interact with children, and how to work on a team. My daily assignments included,
cleaning the park area, guiding spectators to their seats and organizing the crowd
during open theatre functions.

I developed my organization skills even as a student by learning to mange class
and extracurricular activities such as music lessons, sports activities without
neglecting my studies. I coached individual students in Science and English and
learnt to organize work and my regular college work with very successful results.

I have a good background in Neuroscience both in theory and in the lab, which I
gained by taking related courses at the University of Parma and at the University
of Lille. My practical lab experience obtained during my stay especially in Lille has
provided me sufficient autonomy in conducting and handling experiments, which
range from behavioural tests to bio-molecular tests. I can also conduct data
analysis and give statistical interpretation.
Computer skills
Excellent knowledge of Word, Excel and Power Point, I have basic knowledge of
Matlab and Octavia.
Other skills
I am an avid reader, and enjoy baking in my free time. Moreover I give coaching to
students at the High school level in English and Science every summer.
