Filmmaker Dani Stodilka will be in Winnipeg to participate in a special
screening of her acclaimed documentary A Kingdom Reborn: Treasures
from Ukrainian Galicia. This film brings to life for the first time the
remarkable cultural heritage of the Ukrainian city of Lviv, known as the
“City of the Lion.” Join us for a post-screening discussion moderated by
Dr. Myroslav Shkandrij, Professor of Slavic Studies in the Department of
German and Slavic Studies, University of Manitoba.
“The film A Kingdom Reborn: Treasures from Ukrainian Galicia is an
exceptional feat…”
Zenon E. Kohut, Director of the Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies at the University of Alberta
“Never has our tragic history been so well presented…I think that once
the film has been screened abroad, tourists will simply flock to Lviv.”
Ihor Kalynets, Writer (Lviv, Ukraine)
“The film […] is effective in presenting, through the medium of film and
musical accompaniment, the significant role of Galicia and particularly
Lviv in the history and culture of Ukraine.”
Prof. Yaroslav Isaievych, Director of the I. Krypiakevych Institute of Ukrainian Studies,
National Academy of Sciences, Ukraine
