ENGAGING POLICY MAKERS OF THE FUTURE JULY 25th-30th | VANCOUVER, CANADA
ENGAGING POLICY MAKERS OF THE FUTURE
JULY 25th-30th | VANCOUVER, CANADA
SIMON FRASER UNIVERSITY
now has 28 members and has lasted through the
Cold War and Post-9/11 era guaranteeing the defence of its members in Europe and North America. After the end of the Cold War, NATO has added
to its collective defence role two core tasks: crisis
management and cooperative security. The latter
includes reaching out to partner nations at a global
level.
NATO SIMULATION
Global Model NATO Summit is an international engagement initiative by Simon Fraser University. Global
Model NATO Summit seeks to bring together students
from all over the world to debate, learn and simulate
NATO. At this conference there will be academics,
military, diplomats and other important stakeholders
of NATO. Thus our mandate is ‘learning-by-doing.’
We hope to offer students a realistic experience of how
NATO works and train students to become future
leaders in diplomatic, military, and political functions in
national governments and international organizations.
LOCATIONS: VANCOUVER & VICTORIA
Global Model NATO Summit will take place in Vancouver at the Pinnacle Hotel Harbourfront from July 25th
- July 30th. Delegates and speakers will be staying at the
Pinnacle Hotel Harbourfront and one night at a hotel in
Victoria, BC on July 27th.
In partner with the Royal Canadian Navy, Global Model
NATO Summit will also spend one full day at Canadian
Forces Base (CFB) Esquimalt in Victoria on Vancouver
Island. CFB Esquimalt is the headquarters of Canada’s
Maritime Pacific Command. At CFB Esquimalt, the
Royal Canadian Navy will give demonstrations and
briefings on Canadian ships and personnel in NATO
operations.
