Undergraduate
Scholarship
in
Ukrainian
Studies
scholarship is available to an undergraduate
student who: is enrolled full-time in the
Faculty of Arts in the final year of any degree
program; has achieved a minimum degree
grade point average of 3.5; and will complete
an honours thesis or major paper in the area
of Ukrainian studies using the archives of the
Ukrainian Canadian Experience. Preference
will be given, in the following order, to
students who will use the archives of the
Ukrainian Canadian Experience in order
to conduct research related to: 1) the life
and works of Irena Knysh; 2) the Ukrainian
women’s movement, with particular attention
to its North American (Canada and the United
States of America) expression; 3) Ukrainian
and Ukrainian Canadian history, politics, and
culture. If you would like to apply, please
submit the following to the Faculty of Arts
(307 Fletcher Argue Building) by May 31:
a description of proposed honours thesis or
major paper (maximum 500 words); and one
academic letter of reference from a professor
at a post-secondary institution.

PhD 1988, who received the Canadian
Museums Association’s Award of
Distinguished Service for her many years
as curator at the Manitoba Museum in
April.

Congratulations to Emma LaRocque,
JMP 1980 and Professor in the Department
of Native Studies, who won the 2011
Alexander Kennedy Isbister Award for
Non-Fiction for her book, When the Other
Is Me: Native Resistance Discourse,
1850-1990, at the annual Manitoba Book
Awards, April 17.

Tache Hall Residence - Take a tour of
Tache Hall prior to renovations to turn
it from a residence into the School of Art
and the Faculty of Music,. May 6 & 7,
10 am - 2 pm, starting at the Tache Hall
Atrium.
DOORS OPEN WINNIPEG
This annual community event, showcasing
the buildings of Winnipeg, will be on May
28 & 29. Over 70 Winnipeg buildings will
be holding free tours and viewings. The
