We hosted many exciting events for the family, including a “Bugs, Bugs & More Bugs” workshop, ice cream making workshops and a “Farmyard Fest”. A huge thank you to the University of Manitoba’s Entomology department and Manitoba Pork for helping make these events happen. Thanks to all the families who came out to these events! Can you find yourself in the picture collage on page 2? The Discovery Centre was also busy in the community— we had a booth in the “Touch the Farm” area of the Red River Exhibition in June and brought our wooden dairy cow, “Clarabelle”, to the St. Norbert Farmer’s Market. In July, the Centre celebrated a huge milestone. Over 10,000 visitors have walked through our doors since we opened in September 2011!! Join us for Open Farm Day! Once again, the Discovery Centre is taking part in Open Farm Day on Sunday, September 15th. Join us for a fun-filled day...free of charge! We are open from 10am to 4pm. Make soup! Trying to figure out what to do with all those tomatoes your plants are producing? Why not make some homemade tomato soup? This recipe is easily frozen in medium freezer bags (4 cups) that make for a quick meal when heated with 2-3 cups of milk. Add a grilled cheese sandwich and the entire family is happy! picture: pennywisecook.com; recipe: winnieswinningways.ca Our Summer in Pictures.
