3) Are changes on horizon that could impact these specifications in the future, either at
the national level or within your state?
Process of a Multi-State Standard Setting Study

• Panelists Review Categories of Test for Validity
• Report Produced with Recommended Score Value and Validity Information
Recommended Study Value – Cut Score
• The standard setting studies involved two expert panels for each assessment, comprised
of teachers, administrators and college faculty.
• The recommended cut scores for each panel are provided to help state departments of
education determine appropriate cut (or passing) scores.
• The final Cut Score is set at the discretion and control of each individual state.
• Each state reviews the report and decides what it will adopt as its cut score(s)
• Each state is encouraged to consider having a small group of experts help in the
deliberation to review the results of the report, review a copy of the content
specifications and a form of the test(s).
• Each state should factor in other considerations relevant to the state: Standard Study
recommendations; Available performance data; Supply and demand issues; Access to
the profession; Periodic reviews of their score; and Practitioner input into their
decisions.

The scaled score associated with a raw score of 83 is 163 on a 100–200 scale.
School Psychologist (5402)

of School Psychologists (NASP):
