COMMUNITY HEALTH INFORMATION & RESEARCH PARTNERSHIPS “Creating healthy communities by transforming the way we learn together” PROJECT DESCRIPTION REFERENCE: BF1 Building Futures Initiative Partnership Initiative between: Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA), Community Financial Counselling Service, Youth Employment Services (YES), and Big Brothers Big Sisters Community Organization: Websites: BF - http://winnipeg.cmha.ca/our-services/youth-services/building-futures CMHA - https://winnipeg.cmha.ca/ CFCS - http://www.debthelpmanitoba.com/ YES - http://youthemploymentservices.com/ BBBS - http://www.bigwinnipeg.com/en/Home/default.aspx The Building Futures (BF) initiative is a pilot project funded by MB Child and Family Program Services aimed at assisting youth, presently or formally in care, transition from youth services to full adult independence. Project Title: Building Futures Initiative Evaluation Project The purpose of this project is to contribute to an evaluation of the first two years of the Building Futures program. Preliminary data from approximately 300 youth regarding their demographics, carestatus and use of BF services at four different community organizations has been collected over the past two years. The first phase of this project requires conducting a Project Summary: preliminary analysis of this data and describing important aspects of it in a short written report (charts, tables, graphs…etc.). The second phase of this project will involve reviewing the data collection/entry processes at the four partnered community organizations (each collects data on different things and in different ways) and recommend ways to improve data quality and create efficiencies for future evaluations. Project Deliverable Preliminary quantitative analysis of compiled data from initiative (basic reporting of frequencies, mean, range, cross-tab proportions…etc.) Recommendations for new reporting indicators and processes for future data collection and evaluations (in short written report) Deadline/ Estimated First Deliverable: 3-4 months Duration to Complete: Second Deliverable: 6-9 months Community Health Information & Research Partnerships 1 COMMUNITY HEALTH INFORMATION & RESEARCH PARTNERSHIPS “Creating healthy communities by transforming the way we learn together” Additional Requirements: The following skills/knowledge/interests would be considered assets: basic statistical analysis, organizational skills, ability to work with program staff who have varied experience working with data. Skills that will be Community partnered research; quantitative data analysis, management and used/developed description; knowledge translation; presentation, writing and communication Additional info. for 1 to 4 project placements available. BF staff available for project support. U of M basic Volunteer quantitative analysis training available. U of M mentor support available.
