Michigan State Industries "Insider Newsletter" w w w. m i c h i g a n . g o v / m s i Vo l u m e 1 , I s s u e 4 M a y, 2 0 0 5 Plans Underway For 4th Annual The Annual MSI Open House will take place again this year!! Dates have been set for Wednesday, July 14th, and Thursday, July 15th. The Open House event is a great avenue to showcase our products to MDOC, State Agencies, and Non-Profit organizations. MSI intends to make this year's event even more successful than the past. We currently have a new e-mail listserv group on our website. Customers can now subscribe to receive automatic updates and information on new product reviews, product updates, price changes, upcoming events and much more. Luanne Peeper our Inside Sales Rep has added over 600 customer e-mail addresses to the group, and more will be included. Flyers will be e-mailed to all employees during the month of June. We ask that you circulate and post them on your facility bulletin boards if possible. More details will be forthcoming. Factories are asked to notify the Sales/Marketing Dept. of any specific customers they feel should receive the flyer, and also any special products they would like displayed. We will be offering a continental breakfast along with a grilled assortment of meat products provided by our MSI Meat Factory. We are encouraging our entire MSI staff to remember the visions and values of "Teamwork" and "Inclusion". Please assist us in anyway that you can to help make this event one to remember!! Fa c t o r y Ta l k - B e l l a m y C r e e k Each issue of the Insider will feature various factories in our "Factory Talk" section. It is really good to know what new and exciting projects our factories are involved in. Each factory's contribution can be seen in the quality products they produce. Let's take a look inside and see some of this great work!! Our Wood Furniture Operation at Bellamy Creek CF has been producing wood office furniture for years. They are now expanding the furniture line to include Church Furnishings. St. Mary's Cathedral in Gaylord, MI is one of the first churches to receive over 162 new pews for their beautiful cathedral. The pews were made of solid oak veneers with solid oak wooden legs and trim. Dan Savoie, Superintendent, and the entire supervisory production staff did an excellent job on this project!! The project has opened doors for potential future business with MSU. The MSU staff was extremely pleased with the new unit, and as a result they have placed an order to have additional units made. The refurbishing operation does more than refurbish furniture. They have proven that creating new products is also their specialty. MSU would like to thank the entire design team and installation crew for their hard work!! Randy Duell, Superintendent. Installation Crew: Curtis White, Dallas Rairigh, Jerry Devenbaugh. Products provided will consist of doors, molding, walls, and cabinets. I-Max will also assist with trucking deliveries. A recent delivery of walls was shipped to the Greenville Area, Habitat for Humanity Project. Additional projects are under construction in Roscommon Township. More information and pictures of the completed homes will be provided in the next issue of the MSI Insider.
