b) Research Experience and Areas
Involved in a Full-Time Research Programme (Under fellowship of MHRD, GOI) in the
Mechanical Engineering Department of Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee,
leading to the Ph.D. Thesis on “Analysis, Design and optimization of Quality,
Reliability and Maintainability aspects in production Systems”. The Topic of the
research is of great interest to practicing engineers and managers to ensure quality
and reliability of their product(s)/processes. After analyzing the system with the help
of RCA, the maintenance managers can develop better insight into the system
constituents, their function, failure mode and its effect on system performance. In the
area of maintainability the presented work solves the maintenance mix problem and
provides approach to implement TPM as a maintenance strategy. On the Quality
front, a framework to implement and sustain Quality Costing System will help the
managers to (i) properly identify the set of alternatives required to define the
taxonomy of quality-based investments. (ii) Set-up both exogenous and endogenous
quality priorities.
