The department has always aimed to provide a
practical knowledge to the students. This helps
them fit according to the need of the time. The
drudging nights before submissions prepare the
student entering the institute, become a
professional. The presentation skills improved
during the viva voce were well reflected during the
various events like NASA, NIMBUS and paper
presentations in IIT ROORKEE.
ROORKEE The performance of
the department during last semester was
commendable. The efforts made by the faculty staff
and students are highly appreciable. I wish them a
continuum success in the future.

Following the
Footprints
R.E.C. Hamirpur provided a platform to
the zest of various palpable ideas by
starting the course of B.Arch in the year
2002.
The torch holder was the batch of 12
students, guided by the faculty of five
teachers, under ER. R.L. SHARMA of civil
engineering department, N.I.T Hamirpur;
as the HEAD OF THE DEPARTMENT.
R.E.C. turned N.I.T. Hamirpur girded for
the 20th rank in India .The platform built
seven years back, actuated a series of
creative yet chaste ideas. The flare of
these efforts still sparkles with every
single fest of the institute, may it be the
cultural,”hill’ffair”, technical,” nimbus”,
or the enthusiastic sports meet,”lalkaar”.
A class of 12 students today stands as
department of creative minds.
The building of the department is
expected to be an aesthetical landmark

NASA or the National Association for the Students of Architecture was started
in 1957 with an aim to beautify and harmonize the fast developing free India by
becoming a common platform for interaction between architecture students
from around the country. Now in its 50th year, NASA has proven itself as the
torchbearer for these architecture students whose number is increasing every
year.
Every year, NASA hosts an extravagant
convention where every architecture
college from around the country
participates. NASA has an all‐student
administration
body
having
2
representatives each, from every
participating college. These are addressed
as the Unit. Secretary (U.Sec) and the unit
designee (U.D.)of that college. Also, the
group of students that represent the
college with U.D and U.Sec are addressed
as the delegates of that college.

NIMBUS’2007
Nimbus’07 proved to be a major step ahead for the architecture department.
Till now nimbus was symbolized as a technical fest with not even a speck of
architecture,, but this time the department
p
and the students left an imprint

on
the rest of the college. The efforts put in the fest were highly acclaimed by all
the other departments and its students.

The major attraction were the documentaries on BHUJ EARTHQUAKE AND
MEXICO CITY EARTHQUAKE, screened in auditorium which well‐versed the
students with the mechanism and the devastating effects of earthquakes as
well as the structural precautions that are ought to be taken for earthquake
resistant buildings.
To be mentioned was the special seminar on CHANDIGARH CITY given byAR.
JIT KUMAR GUPTA, which enlightened the students and the faculty about
the Le Corbusier’s city.
.
Congregating the whole organization of nimbus’07 by architecture
department, it was a major step taken ahead in the field of technical fests
and it gave the substantiation of the magnetism of architecture department
and its students.
HILLFFAIR’06
As always, Hill’ffair again proved to be a benchmark for the coming
Hill’ffairs. The various clubs of the cultural fest put a lot of hard work for
its success. The participation of students from architecture department
was easily noticeable. They were found sharing their creative ideas and
magical talent in 10 clubs out of the total of 14 Hill’Ffair clubs.
The architecture students left their mark on fine arts club and the
decoration club.
The list of the position holders in various clubs
DECORATION CLUB:

Change In Syllabus
Introduction of new subjects like Mathematics, Computers and Engineering Drawing has opened new horizons of learning and understanding the basic as any other engineering student. In short the paradigms of architecture are not been restricted to creativity alone instead amalgamated with technological .
aspects as well. Adding to this, students will get new opportunities for their placements in various technical fields too.
This new addition will make architecture students eligible for the placements in software companies.
Also, this bridging with technical subjects will provide more options during post graduation courses.
The introduction to new subjects will not only help in the enhancement of individuals’ skills, but it will also help in easy adaptation to technical fields and team work.
