OUR RIVERS ON DRUGS by Dr. Emma Rosi-Marshall presents: Science Seminar Series
Science Seminar Series presents:
OUR RIVERS ON DRUGS
by Dr. Emma Rosi-Marshall
On Thursday, April 21, Cary Institute scientist Emma
Rosi-Marshall, Ph.D. will discuss the effect that
pharmaceutical and personal care product pollution has
on rivers and streams.
This pollution includes an array of contaminants, from
prescription medications and over-the-counter drugs to
antimicrobials and cosmetics. These compounds enter our
streams and rivers from our households, and are often not
removed by wastewater treatment facilities.
Learn how pharmaceutical and personal care product
pollution harms aquatic life and compromises the health
of our nation’s freshwater systems. Dr. Rosi-Marshall
will also outline what is needed to combat the growing
problem.
The event will be held at Stroud Water Research Center,
located at 970 Spencer Road in Avondale, PA 19311.
