Anti-Racist Pedagogy Across the Curriculum (ARPAC)
DESCRIPTION AND SCHEDULE
Facilitator(s): Melissa Prescott, Darlene St. Clair, Debra Leigh, and Kyoko Kishimoto
Definition and Purpose:
The project for the FLC as a collective will be to assess the impact of the Anti-Racist Pedagogy
Across the Curriculum (ARPAC) project on faculty participants and students who enroll in
courses taught by faculty participants.
Members of the FLC will
a. Review and analyze survey data collected from workshop participants in 2013, 2014, and
2016 to assess the faculty learning outcomes designed by this FLC.
b. Continue work on assessing student learning outcomes for students in courses taught by
ARPAC participants.
c. Finalize and pilot a survey instrument in select courses in Fall 2016, refine and
implement in Spring 2017.
Commitments of members:
• Members will commit to meeting with the group for work sessions regularly according to
a schedule: (Please note: the schedule below has elements that are fixed and others that
are flexible depending upon the needs of the participants.) Please mark your calendars at
the time of application for those dates that are not changeable.
o Fall Convocation Orientation and Work Session – Wednesday, August 17, 2016
o Fall 2016 – Work sessions will be determined by facilitators.
o January Workshops Lunch Retreat – Date to be announced
o Spring 2016 - Work sessions Work sessions will be determined by facilitators.
• Members will commit to taking their knowledge to their Departments and/or Colleges,
and sharing their knowledge of its impact on their students’ learning.
• Members will present the results of their learning at the Sixth Annual SCSU Teaching
and Learning Fair during Fall Convocation 2016.
Additional Optional Commitment:
• Members who complete the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Process by presenting
the results of their learning at a regional or national conference or submitting their results
in the form of a publication will receive an additional reward of professional funds for
travel.
Rewards:
• Increased knowledge and implementation of service-learning.
• A new energized sense of community with your peer group around work, learning and
food!
• A chance to learn best practices.
• The opportunity to inform peers about service-learning.

signatures. Applications should be delivered to the Center for Excellence in Teaching and
Learning Office in Miller Center 310. Review of Applications begins upon receipt of
applications.
The facilitators and the CETL Director will jointly select the participants from the applicant
pool. Criteria for selection will include: commitment to student learning, openness to new ideas,
level of interest in and seriousness of commitment to FLC participation, and potential for
