CLA SotA College of Liberal Arts School of the Arts Transfer Guide - Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy Transfer Process All transfer students seeking a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy should follow the admission procedures located at www.stcloudstate.edu/transfer to be admitted to St. Cloud State. A student must first be accepted to St. Cloud State and then may apply to the Philosophy major after meeting with the advisor for the Philosophy Department. The Philosophy Department offers a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and an interdisciplinary degree. For more information, please see the University Catalog. The following courses transfer from St. Cloud Technical and Community College to St. Cloud State: SCTCC Course CRTK 1300 Intro to Critical Thinking OR PHIL 1340 Intro to Logic PHIL 1320 Ethics OR HLTH 1484 Ethics for Health Careers SCSU Course PHIL 1310 Intro to Philosophy PHIL 112 Philosophical Explorations PHIL 194 Critical Reasoning PHIL 212 Moral Problems and Theories The following courses are suggested for particular MnTC Goals: SCTCC Course SCSU Course Goal 1: ENGL 1302 Analytical Writing OR ENGL 2302 Advanced Argument and Research Writing ENGL 191 Intro to Rhetorical and Analytical Writing Goal 1: CMST 1320 Intro to Communication Studies CMST 192 Intro to Communication Studies Goal 2, 4: PHIL 1340 Intro to Logic PHIL 194 Critical Reasoning Goal 6, 9: PHIL 1320 Ethics PHIL 212 Moral Problems and Theories It is recommended that students take these courses as a part of the Minnesota Transfer Curriculum (MnTC) or Associate in Arts (AA) degree. If a student completes a Goal within the MnTC, the same Goal will be completed at St. Cloud State once transferred.
