Transfer Guide -­‐ Art Transfer Process All transfer students seeking a major in Art should follow the admission procedures located at www.stcloudstate.edu/transfer to be admitted to St. Cloud State. A student must first be accepted to St. Cloud State and then may apply to the major after meeting the major’s admission requirements. The Art Department at St. Cloud State offers the following programs: Bachelor of Arts in Art or Art History; Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2D Media, 3D Media, Graphic Design or Integrated Media; Bachelor of Science in Art Education. More information can be found in the University Catalog. Art majors are encouraged to apply to St. Cloud State prior to October 1st/March 1st; students recommended to meet with Art Department chairperson by October 22nd/March 22nd. Requirements for Admission to Art Majors: • Bachelor of Fine Arts and Bachelor of Arts in Art degrees: o Completion of the 15-­‐credit first-­‐year foundation sequence: ART 101, ART 102, ART 103, ART 104, ART 105 with a 2.5 GPA or higher o Completion of Art Department portfolio review • Bachelor of Science in Art Education o Completion of the 15-­‐credit first-­‐year foundation sequence: ART 101, ART 102, ART 103, ART 104, ART 105 with a 2.5 GPA or higher; cumulative GPA 2.75 or higher o ENGL 191 and CMST 192 (or transfer course equivalents) must be completed with a C or higher o Completion of Art Department portfolio review • Bachelor of Arts in Art History o 2.5 GPA or higher The following courses transfer from Century College to St. Cloud State: CC Course SCSU Course ART 1041 Drawing I ART 101 Foundation Drawing I ART 1024 2D Design ART 2041 Drawing II OR ART 2042 Figure Drawing ART 1025 3D Design ART 102 2D Design and Color ART 2051 Painting II ART 340 Painting I ART 2071 Ceramics II ART 370 Ceramics I ART 2031 Photography II ART 386 Photo II ART 1021 Art History of the Western World I ART 230 Art History Survey I ART 103 Foundation Drawing II ART 104 3D Design ART 1022 Art History of the Western World II ART 231 Art History Survey II • If a student completes a Goal within the MnTC, the same Goal will be completed at St. Cloud State once transferred. Additional Requirements to Consider when Degree Planning: • Completion of 10 Goals (40 credits) in the MnTC (known as the Liberal Education Program at St. Cloud State) • 40 upper-­‐division credits (300-­‐400 level coursework) are required to graduate • The Bachelor of Arts in Art History degree requires a second major, minor OR a year of foreign language • Art programs require a cumulative GPA of 2.5 to graduate Please refer to www.transferology.com for up-­‐to-­‐date information on course equivalencies.
