SCHOOL OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES www.stcloudstate.edu/shhs Minneapolis Community and Technical College (MCTC) to SCSU Bachelor of Science – Medical Laboratory Science (3+1) Transfer Guide Transfer Process All transfer students seeking a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Laboratory Science should follow the admission procedures located on the following website in order to be admitted to St. Cloud State University: www.stcloudstate.edu/transfer. A student must first be accepted to St. Cloud State and then may apply to the Medical Laboratory Science major after meeting the major’s admission requirements. It is not recommended that students take their liberal education requirements before beginning the major requirements listed above; doing this may set students behind on their academic timeline. The course recommendations listed are for students who are not a Certified Medical Laboratory Technician. If you are a Certified Medical Laboratory Technician, please contact either Dr. Millis or Kim Scardino (contact information listed below) to learn more about SCSU’s 2+2 program with North Hennepin Community College. Students are encouraged to meet with an advisor to design an appropriate program to meet the requirements of the clinical internship site chosen by the student as soon as possible after beginning coursework at SCSU. Notes: Please visit the Medical Laboratory Science webpage for more information: http://www.stcloudstate.edu/healthsciences/medLabScience/ Students are required to complete the 10 goal areas in the Minnesota Transfer Curriculum (MnTC), known as the Liberal Education Program at SCSU. Students must complete a minimum of 40 upper-division credits (300-400 level coursework) to graduate from SCSU. (over) The following courses are completed in the Liberal Education Program as a result of completing the Medical Laboratory Sciences major: Math 112 to fulfill Goal Area 4; CHEM 210 and BIOL 151 to fulfill Goal Area 3. If a student completes a goal within the MnTC, the same goal will be completed at SCSU once transferred. *This transfer guide is intended for students who are not a Certified Medical Laboratory Technician.
