ABOUT CONFERENCE
Today the complexity of living is increasing in multiple folds, the
universities and the organizations world over now exhort for
competency based education & practice. Competency is
becoming the password for practice in all spheres of life. What is
the competency then & how it differs from skills? Skill is a
learned ability to bring about desired result with maximum
certainty and efficiency whereas competencies refer to skills or
knowledge that leads to superior performance.
Professional competency is more than just knowledge and skills.
It involves the ability to meet complex demands in health care field
by which the professional nurses account for their measurable
skills, abilities and personality traits that identify successful
nurses against the multitude of nurses.
When Education and Practice gets integrated the competency
based model can positively impact students demeanor, patient
safety, improve patient care, increase retention, and ensure a
sufficient and competent nursing workforce which is paramount
to survival of the health care system. It is a prerequisite and
universal demand of nursing practice.
So to challenge and enlighten Nursing Profession in today's era of
health care advancement and globalization nurses needs to have
knowledge on competencies of international standards. Hence we
would like to be the component of pioneers for enhancing
competency based nursing education and practice
