CSCI 375 a Introduction to Multimedia Applications Concepts of multimedia applications are introduced with a focus on multimedia representation, processing, storage, and implementation. Topic areas include audio, image, video, animation, compression technologies, and standards. Tools and techniques for appropriate design and implementation of multimedia applications will be explored. CSCI 409 c Advanced Web Application Development Advanced topics in the development and deployment of web-based applications. Topics include advanced middleware programming concepts and development of dynamic websites. Students will write a full-scale web application as their final project. CSCI 418Q c Financial Technology This course will provide an introduction to financial concepts and algorithms. Students will develop online applications to gather real-time data and use financial algorithms for pricing and monitoring of financial products. CSCI 425 c Database Systems Design An exploration of advanced database topics will be covered. Topics may include the efficiency of advanced queries, indexing structures, database and SQL optimizations, backup and recovery, NoSQL and big data concepts. CSCI 475 a Decision Support Systems A study of decision support systems. Topics include computerized decision support and business intelligence systems, modeling, and methodologies. CSCI 495 c Information Systems Capstone Course and Project This senior capstone course integrates and synthesizes the material covered in the field of Information Systems, including Systems Analysis, Project Management, System Development and Deployment, and Security. Students will develop a practical solution to an information systems problem. Presentation will be both oral and written. Lecture topics may vary from semester to semester. c Financial Technology Course will provide an introduction to financial concepts of equities, bonds, derivatives, the associated algorithms, and programming deployment of these algorithms. Students will develop real-time online financial modeling applications to deploy financial web-based systems, and conduct research into topics in financial engineering. Physical Action Labs Develop a series of hands-on “Physical Action Labs” related to various topics in computer science and/or information systems.
