LISA J. MAILS
Summer Newsletter
Registration
This year, our school will take part
in online registration. Please be on
the lookout for emails in July
explaining the process so that you
can complete it for your child.
We will still have our Registration
Day on August 7th to confirm
online registration and to hand out
teacher assignments. There will
also be an opportunity to join
PTA, purchase school apparel,
turn in medication, and register to
volunteer. The schedule for the
day will be as follows, based on
last name:
8 - 9 AM A - I
9 - 10 AM J - P
10 - 11 AM Q – Z
Welcome to a New School Year!
We look forward to working with you again as we start the 2014 - 2015
school year. We thank you for being part of our school community. We
hope your children's lives will be enriched by our focus on academic rigor
and the arts.
Here are some things you might look for as we move into the new school
year:
If you cannot make it on the 7th,
you may stop by our office any
time before the first day of school
to complete the process.
- You may have heard that our much-loved Assistant Principal, Mr.
Shaw, has moved on to lead a school of his own in the Etiwanda School
District. We are currently hiring a new person for this position and look
forward to welcoming him/her to our community!
Kindergarten Meet
and Greet
- Our roads will continue to improve with the addition of a traffic light
at the entrance to our parking lot. Be on the lookout for more information
as to parking lot procedures as we get closer to the start of school.
New Kindergarten families are
invited to join us for a Meet and
Greet in the Kindergarten
classrooms. This will take place on
the day before school starts,
Tuesday, August 12th from 1 - 2
PM. This is an opportunity for you
to meet the teacher and help your
child make an effective transition.
Parents may call the office after
August 7th to get their child's
teacher name and room number.
Summer Newsletter
- Our campus is growing! This summer we are adding five permanent
classrooms to our campus. These will allow us to make room for classes
in light of class size reduction. Our focus on lowering class sizes in grades
K - 3 will be first grade, but we expect to have lower class sizes in all
grade levels, K - 5. In light of this, our staff has grown as well!

Support our School...Support our PTA!
Your support of PTA is essential to continuing the outstanding
opportunities in place for our students. Here are just a few of the
things that PTA ensures are in place each year: Red Ribbon Week,
Reflections, Chalk Draw, Monarch Mile Club, Learning Garden,
Book Fair, Field Trips, Assemblies, Classroom Teaching Supplies
and Materials, Watch DOGS, Movie Night, Jingle Mingle,
Grandparents Breakfast, Kinder Tea, and Parent/Child Events. Please
support the PTA by becoming a member. If you are interested in
becoming a volunteer, let us know as well! We truly value the
support of our volunteers!
What is HEART?
HARMONY
EMPATHY
ACHIEVEMENT
REFLECTION
TRANSFORMATION
Our HEART mission is part of
everything we do!
Who are the Monarchs?
Monarchs represent growth, flight,
and transformation.
They remind us that change is an
ever-present part of our lives. They
teach us to embrace the unknown
and to be willing to endure great
journeys.
Teacher Assignments/Student Profile Form
Each year, parents are invited to fill out a Student Profile Form that
we review when placing your child in a teacher’s classroom. Please
understand that our first priority in building classes is to create
balanced classrooms. We do encourage your input as to the style of
teacher who would best support your child, but per district policy,
this is not a request form and no teacher is guaranteed. While we
hope you will give all of our outstanding teachers a chance to work
with your child, if you have a concern about your child’s teacher
assignment, you may notify Mrs. Mutchnick by email. Teacher
changes will be made after school is in session for two weeks.
Adopt-a-Classroom
Our goal this year is for every classroom in our school to be adopted.
These additional funds make such a difference to our teachers and
enable them to access additional resources for supporting the
curriculum and the arts. A classroom adoption is $250. You may
adopt with other families. All adoptions this year will have the
opportunity to have a tile made by the children to display and
celebrate your support. We thank you for considering this important
contribution.
School Day Schedules
Monarchs show us that beauty and
strength can be found in one entity.
They inspire us to fly as high as our
dreams take us!
