What a cold start to the New Year! As we have started the month of January with two hour delays and closing of school, we would like to remind you to always check the Montgomery County Public Schools website or local news stations to find out the latest information about the opening of school. A list of ways to stay in touch are included in this month’s newsletter. Please remember when school is delayed by two hours, students may not enter the school building until 10:45AM. Please do not drop your child off prior to 10:45AM as there is no adult supervision and students are not permitted into the building. If schools open late, there is no Pre-K , PEP, or HeadStart morning classes. As we begin the second half of the year, please make sure to review the upcoming events because we have many exciting events planned from now until June. We will continue to keep you updated through our newsletter, ConnectEd phone calls, and the ESS website. Thank you to all our families for supporting the students and staff at East Silver Spring ES, Adrienne L. Morrow, Ed.D. Tara M. Counseling Corner Happy New Year ESS Family! I hope you all are staying warm during this winter season. The weather outside has been changing drastically and I want to make sure all of the students are coming to school with warm hats, scarves and gloves. If any student is in significant need, please fill free to contact me so I can provide your child with a hat, a scarf or even gloves. I can even help with providing a coat for those students who are in significant need as well. In counseling, students are still learning many different things about Social Emotional Learning and learning ways to apply those skills into their everyday lives. In kindergartens through 5th Grade, students will demonstrate understanding and respect for different cultures, lifestyles, families, attitudes and communication skills. Parents, please save the date! I will be sending home a letter requesting volunteers to be presenter for our 2nd East Silver Spring Career Day on May 27, 2015. I am so excited to have our ESS parents share their careers with our students because we want our students to imagine themselves in a career so that they can be inspired to do well in school now. For those students selected for lunch bunches, they will begin on January 26, 2015. Those students will be spending their lunch time with Mr. Fisher. I would love to talk to you about ways I could be helpful to your child! Please feel free to contact me at any time. [email protected] 301-650-6420 Coming Soon!
