One important detail is that we will have a delayed opening each day during the PARCC and HSA testing. MCPS bus transportation will follow the regular morning and afternoon schedules. Daily study halls will be held in the school in designated areas for students who must ride the morning bus but do not have PARCC or HSA exams. Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) and Maryland High School Assessments (HSA): Students must participate and/or pass these assessments in order to graduate. These assessments will be given on May 19 – 24, 2016 to students enrolled in Algebra I, English 10, Biology, and NSL Government or students who did not take or pass the assessment in the past. A different test is assigned to each day, beginning at 7:45 a.m., and lasting approximately three (3) hours. Students who attend Thomas Edison High School of Technology are expected to go to their classes at Edison when they are not testing; the Edison bus will run on the regular schedule. *See Attachment A for the testing and class schedule during PARCC/HSA week. Second Semester Final Exams and Culminating activities: Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) requires that final examinations and/or culminating activities be administered to all students at the end of the semester. PLEASE NOTE: Only students who have participated in the PARCC and HSA testing are not required to take final exams or culminating activities for those designated courses! These courses only include: Algebra I, English 10, Biology, and NSL Government. All students enrolled in any other course should prepare to take a final exam or complete a culminating activity. In order to prepare students for final exam/culminating activities, a review day has been scheduled. Teachers will not present new material or schedule tests for the review day. • All senior final examinations will count 25 percent of the 4th marking period grade. • All underclass students’ final examinations will count 25 percent of the 2nd semester grade. Senior Final Exams: Senior final exams are scheduled from May 23 - May 26, 2016. Refer to Attachment A for the senior review and exam schedule.
