Takoma Park Elementary School 2014-2015 STUDENT AND STAKEHOLDER FOCUS Based on the results of current data, students need daily opportunities for differentiated instruction in all subject areas with an emphasis on reading and math. FACULTY AND STAFF FOCUS Teachers will: ..Participate in macro and micro professional learning to implement structures and processes of small group instruction ...conduct meetings to examine student work to guide instruction …explore PARCC assessment in order to identify critical instructional strategies Leaders will: ...support teachers in planning for small group instruction …conduct meetings to examine student work to guide instruction (Core Team, grade level data chats) LEADERSHIP Vision: Parents, staff and the community will teach students to believe in themselves by communicating high expectations while providing a safe and positive learning environment. Students will have opportunities for critical thinking, problem-solving and inquiry to learn more about the world around them through diverse learning experiences. Mission: Be positive, work hard and do your best. *The vision and mission statement will be communicated at staff meetings, team meetings, staff development trainings, parent/teacher conferences, PTA meetings, school newsletters, teacher newsletters and Back-to-School Night. Data chats and quarterly reviews will be used to monitor progress. PERFORMANCE RESULTS What measures will tell us we have met our goal? (summative data) See Attached Sheet STRATEGIC PLANNING To increase by 3% the African American, Hispanic, FARMS, LEP and Special Education students’ performance as measured by MAP-P and mCLASS through improving the experience of daily classroom instruction for all students within differentiated small groups. PROCESS MANAGEMENT Leadership Team will: Meet quarters one, two & three to discuss our school’s progress and to make adjustments to school-wide action plans. Plan staff development based on school improvement plan and staff needs. Grade Level Teams will: Create team action plans. Meet weekly for team planning with Core Team member participation. Meet to discuss, prioritize and problem-solve student achievement needs. Parents & Community will: Support our school-wide efforts to improve reading by providing supplementary reading materials and facilitate the Scholastic book fair. Lead Junior Great Books groups for selected students in grade one. Provide additional reading support for kindergarten and grade 2 struggling readers. MEASUREMENT, ANALYSIS, AND KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT Administer county-wide assessments and formative measures: KRA mClass Running Records weekly for students at or below benchmark Written responses for levels J and above Student profile binders (Purple) Teacher reflection ACCESS for ELL’s (WIDA) Report card data Strategic Monitoring Tool – Quarterly MAP-P
