THE CONNECTION NEWSLETTER
From the College/Career Center
Mary Fitzgerald Hull
January 20, 2016
There are so many scholarships in this newsletter! Please don’t let these opportunities slip past you. The
most popular period for scholarship deadlines is December through the end of April. Set aside a certain
amount of time every week to work on scholarship searches and applications! Think of it as a part time job.
Don’t wait until May or June to start thinking about scholarships! There are no guarantees as to whether or not
you will win a scholarship but you miss 100% of the opportunities if you don’t try!
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is one of the most important forms you and your parents
will complete for money for college! Remember, use the website, www.fafsa.gov You will never be asked for
money to complete and submit your FAFSA. If you are on a website and are asked for money, you are on the
wrong website! If you are applying to University of Maryland-College Park, you need to submit your FAFSA by
February 14. The deadline for the State of Maryland is March 1. Be sure to check with the
colleges/universities to which you are applying to see if they have a separate deadline for filing the FAFSA!
DATES & DEADLINES:
