The Rolling Terrace PTA Mini-Grants Program
2011 - 2012
Dear Teachers, Staff and Parents of Rolling Terrace Elementary,
We are pleased to kick-off another year of mini-grants programs funded by the PTA. Mini-grants are small
grants that fund special programs, projects, items and/or events that benefit individual classes, teachers,
students and the Rolling Terrace School Community. Last year, the PTA awarded mini-grants to ten projects
totaling nearly $3,000. Mini-grants purchased new materials for classrooms, school programs, special events
and school presentations (see “mini-grant tips” for full list of last year’s recipients).
The PTA has approved $3,200 for mini-grants projects for the 2011-2012 school year. However unlike
last year, we are only offering mini-grants during the fall. There will not be another funding cycle available in
the spring. The full $3,200 is available now and all teachers, parents and staff are eligible to apply. The
maximum amount granted per applicant is $400. Requests for smaller amounts are strongly
encouraged.
How to Apply: Please fill out the attached application in full and email it to Laura Kriv by Friday, December
2nd, 2011. A copy of the form is also available on the T share. Upon your submission you will receive an email
confirmation that your application has been received.
Send all applications by Friday, Dec. 2, 2011 to: [email protected]
Mini-grants awards will be announced the following Friday, Dec. 9, 2011.
How to Spend Your Award: Once awarded a mini-grant, you may purchase the materials/resources you
need and get reimbursed OR request a check in advance from the PTA Treasurer. Please note that the PTA is
unable to provide cash up front to purchase materials and can not reimburse you for more than your mini-grant
award. For more information, please see the attached “Mini-Grant TIps.”

TIPS for Completing Your Mini-Grant Application
and Spending Your Mini-Grant Award
• Please answer all questions on the application form clearly and with as much detail as
possible. In previous years, we’ve had to do a lot of follow-up to get additional information about
your projects. The more information you can provide on the application, the easier the selection
process will be.
• Specify clearly what the money you are requesting will go towards. For example, if you are
requesting $300 for books, please clarify which books, how many you need and how much is the
cost per book.
• Specify an estimated timeline of when your project will be completed.
• If awarded a mini-grant, please fulfill your project as close to the estimated timeline as
possible. We understand that plans may change throughout the year and some projects may not
be carried out to fruition. Please stick to your timeline as much as possible and if your plans do
change, please let us know
• If you are not able to complete your project, let us know so that we can offer funding to
someone else. Please let us know if you do not use your award so that we can add that amount to
the next mini-grant award cycle. Please understand that mini-grants can not be carried over to the
following year.
• All mini-grants reimbursements or check requests should be for the specific amount of your
purchase or project. Funding can not be for more than the initial mini-grant awarded to you.
• If you have ideas of how to improve the mini-grants program, please let me know. I welcome
your feedback.
