Our aim is to share knowledge and expertise in order to develop the Ukrainian
economy and make the country into a better place in which to conduct business
PwC Academy activities
In October-December 2012, PwC Academy
specialists delivered a number of presentations
covering ACCA DipIFR Qualifications, Certified
Internal Auditor Qualifications and the CIMA
diploma in Business Performance
Management. About 65 participants attended
the presentations, which took place in Kyiv.
ITS/TP events in Kyiv and
Donetsk
In November 2012, PwC experts from Russia
and Ukraine organised a number of seminars in
Kyiv and Donetsk to discuss issues concerning
upcoming innovations in Ukraine: transfer
pricing, transformation of the operational
business model, and international tax
structuring. These topics were of great interest
for businesses, and about 200 participants
attended the seminars.
Antimonopoly Business Breakfast
On 7 December 2012, PwC Legal Services
experts held a Business Breakfast dedicated to
practical aspects of Ukrainian antimonopoly
regulation. In particular, the discussion focused
on antimonopoly regulation and court practice
regarding pharma and retail businesses.
6th Annual PwC HRS Business
Breakfast for Executives
In December 2012, the PwC HRS Team held the
6th Annual PwC HRS Business Breakfast for
Executives, which addressed issues concerning
the employment of foreign nationals in Ukraine.
This Business Breakfast for Executives brought
together a number of General Managers, CFOs,
COOs, HR Directors and other senior executives
and expatriates from major Ukrainian companies
and the foreign investment community. Along
with presentations on the relevant issues from
PwC’s staff, attendees participated in the
discussion and were able to address their
questions and/or concerns to senior tax and legal
professionals from PwC.
Forum for the Heads of Internal
Audit
On 20 December 2012, PwC Ukraine held a
Forum for Heads of Internal Audit to speak about
automating Internal Audit, particularly, how to
use technology to improve Internal Audit
efficiency and effectiveness. At this event, our
Risk & Internal Audit Services Leader, Andrew
Broadhead, talked about the pros and cons, and
the pitfalls and opportunities, of using technical
tools for automating Internal Audit testing
procedures.
Executive Tax Litigation
Conference
On 19 November 2012, PwC TLS experts held the
third annual Executive Tax Litigation
Conference: Different Perspectives and New
Challenges. At this event PwC tax litigation
leaders from Russia and Romania and a judge of
the Highest Administrative Court of Ukraine
were invited. The conference provided a
snapshot of tax and customs litigation
developments in 2012, as well as ideas of what
may be expected in 2013. The conference
participants also had a brief presentation by the
General Counsel for LG Electronics Ukraine on
challenges that the company had faced and how
it handled them. The event was attended by
about 100 representatives of local businesses.
People
We want to inspire our people to be responsible leaders
Activities of our Basketball and
Football teams
During October - December 2012, the PwC
Basketball Team participated in the 3rd
Amateur Basketball League. At the end of
December 2012 our team took second place in
the group stage.
The PwC Football team is participating in the
Business League Tournament which is being
held from November 2012 till March 2013.
We support our teams and wish them success
in the upcoming games.
Environment
We recognize the direct and indirect impact of our business on the environment.
We aim to raise our people’s awareness about the impact on the world around us.
Autumn Toloka on Askoldova
Mogyla
On 20 October 2012, twenty PwC volunteers
and their friends participated in Autumn
Toloka in Askoldova Mogyla Park.
This year, the event was organised by St.
Nicholas Church, PwC and Ruh "Za Zatyshnu
Zemliu". Overall, the initiative was supported
by over 50 people who came to clean the park
of leaves, to plant various trees, lilacs and
tulips, to enjoy live violin music and meeting
new people with warm conversations, tea,
sweets and pizza.
We thank the volunteers who participated in
the Toloka!
Community
We believe that corporate responsibility involves active support of local
communities
Launch of “Investing in your
future” project
On 6 November 2012, PwC, in partnership with
ALTEMUS NGO, launched the "Investing in
Your Future" community educational project.
The project includes a five month training
program to prepare a group of teenagers for
their future employment and to provide them
with necessary life skills. In NovemberDecember, ten PwC volunteers delivered
trainings on Instruments for Employment (CV,
Motivation letter and Job interview) and
Personal Budgeting and Financial Planning.
Ms. Liudmyla Kopyshynska, a professional
psychologist, made a valuable contribution to
the project by delivering a four meeting module
on self-awareness.
Korosten CRC kids visit to Kyiv
On 6 October 2012, we were visited by twentyfive kids from the Korosten Children
Rehabilitation Centre (CRC). During the day,
PwC volunteers took the kids on excursions to
NSK Olimpiiskyi stadium and Kyiv
Planetarium, where they watched an exciting
spherical film, and had lunch with them at
Puzata Hata.
As part of the visit, the CRC and children were
presented with a dishwasher and winter
footwear, which were donated to the Centre by
our colleagues from PwC Germany as part of
their CR initiative dedicated to the EURO2012
Football Championship.
St. Nicholas Day visit to Korosten
In November 2012, we received 35 letters
from children staying at the Rehabilitation
Centre in Korosten. Our employees became St.
Nicholases for the kids and prepared the
requested presents and sweets for them. On
22 December, 12 PwC employees acted as St.
Nicholas’s “couriers” who delivered the
presents to the kids.
Contribution to IWCK Annual
Charity Bazaar
On 8 December 2012, three PwC Partners and
a Senior Manager contributed to the 20th
Charity Bazaar by volunteering to run the
event treasury. This is an annual event,
organized by the International Woman’s Club
of Kyiv (IWCK), which aims to raise funds to
support the most disadvantaged groups in
Kyiv and Kyiv oblast: orphans, the elderly, the
disabled, and women. This year the Bazaar
raised around 2,000,000 hryvnias for local
NGOs to receive on a grant basis.
